me to under go an assesment for psychotherapy which they say will take time, plus they said there setting up ocupational therapy to, which is another period of assesment where i won't actually be doing nothing yet.

where im coming from is im tired of it, im 30 years old, have bpd and struggled mentally since 16. ive never done anything with my life, never achieved qualifications, never had friends or a girlfriend.
i cant even get my psychiatrist to perscribe me any xanax for my extreme anxiety which prevents me going out. the psyche said there addictive and is reluctant to perscribe them.

so im waiting around, apartment bound going through all these lengthy assesments to see if therapy is right for me.

when my top ambition is to move on with my life and quickly..i want to emigrate from the uk and go back to france or further out, build a new life.
so im eager to move on, i dont like britain and want to move away..but i feel kept down by 'the system'
what should i do here?

U should remind them, that you have been as patient as Job, and that it has been more than a year already, and that you feel that you have slipped through the system. I would tell them take things slow? How much slower can it possibly be? Or I would save up, and go to a paid doctor, and get some immediate diagnosis, and help

While you are waiting for the assessments to be completed I would try and keep busy and keep my mind off the issues as much as possible. You need to set some short goals for yourself that you can see some immediate results with. You could get some daily exercise by just taking a walk around your neighborhood, write in a journal, call or visit friends, get some books from the library to name a few things. You may want to try another psychiatrist because there are many drugs that can be prescribed and if one doesn't work then anohter might. Good luck.

i personally think you should find another help place since you are the most important person in your life and you should not be suffering for so long.
it is good that the team wants to take things carefully, but that does not mean it has to be slow. i think they just want to be sure that they won't be sued if something goes wrong. find another place?
i'm sorry that you've never had friends - if you stick with your orignainla mental health team, you could in the waiting period, join some activites that will enable you to meet new people and bond with them. perhaps a sport or hobby.
your psychiatrist is right that xanax is addictive. perhaps suggest that he gives you a "trial run" and see how you cope with it. be firm that your anxiety is really extreme.

best of luck.

Do whatever you think is best for you. There is no sense in waiting. It is your life, do not let anybody tell you how to live it.
As for the anxiety, there are other medications that your doctor could give you that is less addicting. Good luck to you. Your in charge of your life!!!!

You are on the right path as long as it is. You are getting help, most people with disorders are in denial. The treatment they are suggesting sounds reasonable. I do not like the fact your phyc. will not give you meds??? You might have to change docs. It is a fit like a glove with a phyc. just like meds. You should be comfortable with him/her and be able to talk things out, like with your meds. I am sorry for the length of your unhappiness. I am sorry for the question you asked not to be answered. I just hate when I know that people who have psychiatrist or therapist that do not relate to them. Good Luck
