Because they like to pick out what's convenient, and still don't live their lives according to their faith.
I personally don't have anything against Christians, I say whatever gives you hope, but I don't like the ones who insist on persecuting and proseletyzing. Show me where it says to do that in the bible - if I was taught correctly it's exactly the opposite.
Judge not lest ye be judged

Personally, i think each person should be respected, regardless the way they categorize themselves or society.
Yes, most would take verses in the Bible for their own convenience. The Old Testament still counts, since to fully understand the New Testament, we need to know the history, what has transpired that led to the change. We broke the Covenant from the OT, hence we are given a new one when Jesus died on the cross for our salvation.
Do we follow the OT? Depends. Do we follow the NT? Yes. Christians are called Christians because we are. We are followers of Christ. And what did Jesus teach us? He taught us to love. Did He teach us to condemn? NO! Did He teach us to judge? NO! Did He teach us to hate? NO! Did He promote one religion over the other? NO! He taught us to LOVE! Please people enough with serving yourselves with heaps and heaps of egotistical views that you tend to change the meaning of the Words of God to satisfy your own opinions or views. Do respect others. Then shall you be also respected.

The Bible still keeps very primitive codes that must be reinterpreted and all the editing is has suffered both intentionally and unintentionally should be erased too. It cannot be interpreted literally and what you say does makes sense. It is utterly ridiculous to think of stoning children. If that were the case I think there would be very few people on Earth.

Yeah, I actually hate it when people mention Leviticus for that very reason. Why mention passages in the Old Testament...when there are plenty in the New?

Through the New Covenant with Jesus Christ, does it say we should kill gays? NO!
But this is still wrong in God's eyes, homosexuality.
Read 1 Corinthians 6 very closely.
We are to love our enemies, now that Christ has come, we are no longer under the Law, but under GRACE. It is GOD who will judge. But His word still remains the same-- He is against homosexuality. He does not like it. And it is a sin-- it is mentioned in the NT as well as the OT.
But the times have changed as far as how WE ought to handle this-- that is why God tells us to "warn" others of their sin, and share the gospel of salvation with them. But in the end God will judge those who rejected Him. We are not the ones to judge them, God is. But we can show them His word and show them how important it is to turn away from sin. That is what we ought to do, and we ought to do this out of love.

Um hello?
The law has not been abolished.........it was fulfilled by Jesus Christ.
We don't stone people anymore in our day & age......use your brain.
Try as you might, you can never usurp the authority of Scripture. It remains true with or without your feelings towards it. No matter what you spew, homosexuality is DEAD WRONG.
LIVE WITH IT!!!!!

And they did that in those days, whats your point.
Everyone followed the Hammurabi Code in his day (which was very harsh) why don't you post something about that?

we are told that some parts of the OT no longer 'count.'
others do.
I guess it depends on what's convenient at the moment.
