When you are asked why you believe in God, you say it is because you have "faith". What exactly was it that gave you this faith to begin with? Is it because a book said it was so? Maybe your parents told you so? Did something happen to you that gave you faith? Is it because you needed someone to talk to when no one was around? Did God offer you a crutch when life looked hopeless? What is the basis of YOUR faith?

I grew up in a Christian home but I just hated all of what they believe. I don't read the bible and I don't believe most of the stuff in it.
This year has been really hard, I've felt alone, unloved, and lost.
I never didn't believe in God, I just had issues with him so I basically cut him out of my life.
But when I was at home sitting on the floor with that bottle of pills in my hand...something happened. It was like after all this time I really can't explain it...I guess it was a feeling that someone was there. Someone was listening and wanted to help. Someone pulled me out of that dark place that I had wondered into all those years ago and that someone has been with me ever sense. So I'm working out my issues with God, but that is why I believe he is there.

I believe there is a God because it makes sense to me.

There is no poem without a poet.
There is no painting without an painter.
There is no sculpture without a sculptor.
There is no architecture without an architect
There is no universe without a Creator.

So, logically speaking, since every effect has a cause, there must be a first cause. What then would be this first cause? The concept that something just appears out of nowhere from nothing is infinitely absurd. Either it was always there and eternal or it was made by an eternal creative force. Otherwise, cause and effect goes into infinity. Either way, infinity must be defined. So, I believe an infinite creative force must exist. Then, as I think of why a creator creates, because they have the will, desire and ability to do so, I learn of why the Creator Created.

My parents taught me nothing about God or religion. My family did not believe in God and never went to church, except my sister once.

God offered me much more than a crutch when my life looked hopeless. He offered me hope and the power to change, the faith to create a better life for myself and the strength to face the truth.

You know what it means then to be totally alone as do I, my friend. The hand of hope will lead you to the truth which you seek.

Short answer: there is no short answer. Faith is hard to describe, but it's basically believing in something that you cannot accept otherwise. In other words, there are no hard-and-fast facts in a particular idea, so you have to have faith that the idea is true. Christians have faith that God exists. Non-Christians have faith that He doesn't. There are no hard-and-fast facts either way, only theories.

What gave me faith? I'm not entirely sure. Some like to argue that God gives people faith. If that's true, then why do some people seem not to have faith? I don't particularly buy that idea.

Why do I believe that there is a God? I looked at all the evidence available. I weighed the facts and theories that exist. I found that of all the alternatives in the world, Christianity as outlined in the Bible is the most desirable. It's the one that gives us hope and purpose. It's the one that includes things like love, fellowship, and fulfillment that everyone needs. So, I choose to believe that God exists. I choose to have faith in God. I choose to pray to Him and ask Him to forgive me when I do something wrong. Do I see a difference? Yes. There is a lot more peace in my life now, even though there is also a lot more turmoil. Other people don't like the fact that I choose to believe in God. But, somehow I'm OK with that. Something inside me says everything will turn out OK, regardless. A lot of Christians label this as the Holy Spirit. All I know is that I have peace, something I never had otherwise.

I had a dream one night, about 4 years ago, in my dream it was told to me 200300 days divided by 360 is the Lord's Day, the day Jesus was Glorified and ascended to heaven.

I ponder on this dream for about 2 years. And one day I was searching the bible and read where Jesus told us to read Daniel and look for the Holy Place.

I read and reread Daniel, finally I reasoned that Daniel's visions always took him to the shores of a rivers, and lo and behold I saw the words "abomination" and desolation or a form of them, within the save chapter, so I concentrated on these chapters. Chapters 8, 9, 11, and 12.

Reading chapter 8 I discovered "two thousand and three hundred days" I thought I had found it. But it was told to me that it was written 2300 days.

Who should I believe, so to be fair I dividved 2300 days by 360 and came up with nothing. Then I divided 200300 days by 360 and I was amazed. I ran out to tell everyone, I could not believe that in more then 2000 years I was the first to find this out.

200300 day divided by 360 = 556 years, 4 months and 20 days, or April 20, 33 AD. Daniel made this prophecy 556 years, 4 months and 20 days before it happened.

How could I be sure ? Daniel went into captivity around 595 BC and the were captives for 70 years, to about 525 BC.
This would put the time line of 556 years just about right.

Reading Daniel 12, I put the same sample to the numbers of 100290 days and 1,003,530 days and came up with 278 years and 2787 years. My faith soared, where I could not sleep or eat or do anything without thinking of the Words Jesus spoke, my whole life changed.

At times I thought I was going crazy because I could not get the Words Jesus spoke out of my head, when I slept all I dream about was the Words, night and day.

I still do. Now so much has been revealed to me I worry, am I losing my mind.

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved, through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God; (9) not as a result of works, than no one should boast.
Faith is a gift from God that we can choose to accept or reject. He stands at the door of your heart and knocks with the gift of faith and salvation in His hands. You only have to open the door and accept this free gift. It will cost you nothing as the price was already paid on Calvary.
If someone came to your door offering you the gift of the latest game system and all you had to do was say, "Yes, I accept it, come on in", how fast would you open that door?
So why do so many reject the free gift of Gods love just because they can't hold it in their hands?

Too often I have felt a hunch at just the right time to be a certain place, and something significant occurred because I was there at that time and that place.

The first 100 times I could just say coincidence. But I've met people I love dearly due to these hunches. I've been places I would never have normally been and was able to save lives because of it.

If there is no God, then the Universe acts as if there is one.

Honey, there just isn't enough space to list why I believe in God. Fist of all I have experienced the drawing of the Holy Spirit which is something that I know you will not understand so I won't go into details there. God didn't call us to a blind belief. I for one know why I believe. God is real to me and I feel His presence. Too bad you don't. You're missin' out.
From the Old Testament alone, more than 2000 specific prophesies have been fulfilled.
No other so called Holy book compares.Most of the 333 prophesies concerning the Messiah were fulfilled by the birth and life of Jesus Christ and the rest will be fulfilled at His second coming. A mathematician, Peter Stoner, had his graduate students calculate what the odds would be of any one person fulfilling just eight of these prophesies. He found the chance was one in 100,000,000,000,000,000 !Only a God who knows the future could have revealed these prophesies to those that He would have record them in His Word.

In spite of what is being taught today, the truth is we can reconstruct most of the life of Jesus Christ through non - Christian writers of the first century. Even Celsus who despised Christianity, never considered claiming that Jesus Christ did not exist.This is what can be learned from the writing of Celsus...

He was born of a virgin in a small village of Judea;
He was adored by wise men;
His birth was followed by the slaughter of infants by order of Herod;
He took flight to Egypt, where Celsus supposed Christ learned the charms of the Magicians;
After returning, He resided in Nazareth;He was baptized and the Holy Spirit descended on Him as a voice was heard from heaven;
He elected disciples;
He was a friend with publicans and other low people;
He cured the lame and blind;
He raised people from the dead;
He was betrayed by Judas;
He was denied by Peter;
In addition Celsus refers to several details of Christ's passion, crucifiction, and resurrection.

Twenty seven books of the New Testament, nineteen Pagan writers, and three Jewish writers testify to Jesus Christ's historical reality. When I hear people say that Jesus or the Bible is just a myth I just realise that they are simply unaware of the facts.I recommend The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel and or Skeptics Answered or The Gate Of Hell Shall Not Prevail by D. James Kennedy, and The Signature of God by Grant R. Jeffrey. May all your thoughts be taken captive by the Holy Spirit. Amen.

A study of the Bible gave me faith. The Bible (book) did not tell me to have faith. The Bible (book) gave me incontrovertible evidence for faith.

The foundation of my faith is knowledge.

I am reminded of words of former U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase (1864-1873) who personally doubted the Bible's claim but reversed his position once he made what he called a long and profound study of it using the same principles of evidence as he did in secular matters. He became convinced that the Bible is a supernatural book from God.

I did the same thing and arrived at the same conclusion.

it rather is obtrusive from the question and how it rather is worded ("Bibble"), which you do no longer rather decide to understand the answer to this question. even nevertheless, somebody else who stumbles in this question might decide to understand. in fact that Jesus IS the way, the actuality and the existence. The Bible is sparkling that no person includes the father different than via Christ. In Bible college they use the common formula of the ABCs, even nevertheless it rather works for adults too. A - settle for which you're a sinner B - have faith that Jesus is God's son and died on the visit save us from our sins C - Confess this which incorporate your mouth once you do those issues with a honest coronary heart, you will decide to study the Bible and learn extra approximately God's be conscious. you will desire a closer dating with Jesus. Lee Strobel has some superb textile related to the Bible and how he began analyze as an atheist desperate to coach Jesus could no longer be the son of God yet wound up growing to be to be a Christian. In a nutshell, there's a one in many thousands and thousands danger that one guy would desire to fulfill even a number of the prophesies set forth interior the previous testomony related to the Messiah, yet Jesus met each and every of the prophesies. on the time that his crucifixion became prophesied, there became no such ingredient as crucifixion. Mock and chuckle all you like, yet once you recognize the actuality and decide to no longer settle for it, it rather is something you will would desire to respond to for in some unspecified time interior the destiny. The Bible is likewise sparkling approximately that and says that each and every knee will bow and each tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. you would be able to make exciting of me, yet whilst i'm incorrect I even have lost no longer something. i'm happy and living a life-time of excitement in Christ. while you're incorrect, and there's a hell and a God and the Bible is all authentic, then you rather've lost each and every thing for eternity.
