He knew he was here illegally.
He knew he was evading taxes.
Yet he thought that because he had a job, he was not breaking the law or somehow incapable of being a criminal.

Do illegal aliens believe that ignorance of the law is an excuse to break it?

AND he violated federal customs laws by trying to remove over $10,000 from the country. He forfeits the entire amount just for that reason under the law. Illegal aliens think they can break as many laws as they want. That's what happens when a country fails to enforce their own laws.

Personally, I think all monies and properties should be seized whenever an illegal is located. The TRUE crime in this story is that this illegal is STILL IN THE COUNTRY a year later. It's about TIME he got deported. I just can't believe they let him stay that long after the fact. Amazing.

Guess Guatemala doesn't hand out instructions..how to wire the money back home.
Sounds like a reasonable "fine" to me. Here 11 years illegally. A little over $5300 annually.
He knew he was here illegally. I'm not buying the "ignorance" excuse.
And before the pros start squawking, it's illegal for a citizen to carry that much cash out of the nation as well.

Below one of our dams is a great place to trout fish. Or used to be, The illegals started fishing it and breaking all the limit laws. If they get caught they say they didn't know because the signs defining the rules and regulations are not in Spanish. On the other hand if they are shorted a dollar they speak pretty good English.

I have kind of mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, just grabbing a bunch of cash from they guy is wrong. BUT, he does need to pay the taxes along with interest and penalties and probably pay fines for working illegally, customs violations, etc. But the proper process needs to be gone through for that regardless of if he's illegal or not.

I think what really irks me about the incident is when the DA offered to give him back 10k in exchange for keeping quiet. That just comes off as them trying to hide what they are doing.

hi, i've got confidence it particularly is particularly worth whilst to supply it a attempt. Israel had left Gaza in 2005, hoping to have peace. Israel had open the border in Nov 2008, eager to have peace. yet turn into closed in 2 days after rockets fired into israel returned. purely seem at contemporary background on my own, it particularly is sufficient to think of it particularly is particularly worth it to objective to throw the rockets into the seas. yet returned, could I ask, which international locations will run the rustic with the help of having unfastened nutrition from others (UN), and gas and electrical energy from Israel, yet do now not something for his or her human beings yet to construct rockets and procreate (the chief that purely died had 4 different halves and 10 infants!!!!). What else did he do to this land Gaza the place he rules? extra roads? extra farm? extra production facility? extra faculties? extra ability station? Rebuild sea port? rebuild airport? Nope. yet extra rockets that fly extra.

Sad story, he work 11 yrs and saved his money, yes he should pay tax and yes they should take tax from his money but gives him the rest. The people who employs him should also be charge cause they know he is illegal but they employed him anyway, where they paying taxes?
But then again, common sense could have told him he cannot go through airport with all that money. They gonna charge him for everything in the book, including money laundry charges, when they finish with him he wont have a cent, he may even owe them

they arent ignorant of the law, they know they are illegal, they use not being from here as an excuse to break the law. If they were ignorant about the law, they would walk right up to border agents and ask for directions.

They are highly uneducated and not the sharpest tool in the shed. How the heck was he able to get an airline ticket. And why does he have till January to leave the country? Whats going on? he should have been deported immediately. He definitely had enough money to buy a bus tix to the border

And what of all the "LEGAL" US citizens and Corporations who EVADE TAXES worth millions and/or billions to the US government? Should they not be punished for shielding what they earn from the US government? Where is your "justice" for them? Is it only "justice" when it's a POOR person who happens to be a person of color committing a crime and they get caught? The thousands of dollars that man made here and the thousands undocumented workers make per year don't even come close to what the Wealthy and the Corporations hide from the government throught Tax Evasion. Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it and right is right even if no one is doing it.
