I am watching a 8 year old after school for a single mother. I watch her for 3 hours , 3 days a week. I want to make this worth my while, but also want to help a single mother out too. ( I was a single mommy for a while and it is hard to find affordable sitters.) Does anyone have any suggestions?

I agree, she is very little work. Her mother asked me to come up with an amount. I just want to be fair. You are all great. Thanks for taking time and helping me with this!!!!

As a single mom I now pay $25/week for approx 2 3/4 hours of care, no dinner. It's basically $5 no matter how long your child is there. But if you are feeding her dinner, not a snack I would say $10/day, that's $30/wk would be fair, even as much as $45 would be good. She would pay way more than that anywhere else.

I am a certified day care provider and I would think $25-$30 a week is very acceptable. I watch an 8 year old and I have a 9 year old my self, they are a good age, very easy to watch with minimal supervision. I also watch an 18 month old, six hours a day/ four days a week and charge $50 which is more than twice the time you will have the 8 year old.
Certified (type B-watching them in your home) daycare provider rates in my area for a school age child are
Hourly--$2.20
Part Time--$51.84
Full Time--$78.23
And as for you feeding her dinner, its probably not really costing you anything more considering you are already cooking dinner for your own family.
Hope this helps.

Hi, my baby sitter charges me $10.00 -15.00 per day depending how long he stays. It is usually no more than 3 or 4 hours. It is a lot cheaper than a daycare, so there for you will be saving the single mother a lot of money while your getting a little bit of pocket change. Hope this was helpful.

A fair amount would be about 10 dollars a day. he is 8 and really does not need much attention and only 3 hrs.

Between $30-50 a week is reasonable I think.

i would say $10 a day. are you helping the child do homework? or just letting her play till her mom comes home?
if you feel that is not enough then suggest to her that you each come up with a number and meet in the middle.

since you are providing dinner, I would ask for 6 dollars an hour. Or 50 a week. Sounds resonable!

5 dollars a day and 5 dollars a week to cover the food portions she eats. So 20 a week.
