A giant whale swallowed them all and after the flood he barfed them up.

Dinosaurs had probably died off by then because they sure were not around when Noah disembarked from the Ark. Since the Ark was Commissioned by God he must have made it possible for the animals to " Obey" in some sense and go into the Ark. I cannot imagine Noah running around on the Plains trying to corral certain animals. Given that it would seem that God made it possible for these animals to co-exist with one another while on the Ark. Noah took decades to Build it.

The story of Noah’s Ark is obviously too absurd to be taken as literal history. So any attempt at a line of questioning that seeks to understand the logistics of Noah’s efforts are ridiculous, except if it is used to mock this useless and immoral story of God’s genocidal efforts.

To ask about the particular details concerning what transpired on Noah’s Ark, how he gathered the animals from all over the world; how the animals could actually procreate without genetic defects given the limited number of candidates taken from each species; how they were all fed and how waste matter was handled given the size of the ark; etc, is absolutely pointless. It would the equivalent of asking how Poseidon makes storms on the sea, or how Zeus conducts enough electricity to create a lightening bolt, or how much does Thor’s hammer actually weigh?

Noah’s ark, Poseidon and his trident, Zeus on top of mount Olympus, Thor swing his hammer, are all myths, and none is anymore true than the other, regardless of whether or not a consensus of the credulous believes in one more than the other.

Why do you think they were on the ark for 40 days?

It (allegedly) rained for 40 days. THey were stuck on there for longer.

Noah is 600, 17th if the 2nd month - starts raining.
Rains - 40 days
before the waters abate - 150 days
Ark comes to rest - 17th of the 7th month
Mountains visible - 1st of the 10th month
Raven & 1st dove sent out - after another 40 days
2nd dove sent out - 7 days later.
3rd dove sent out - 7 days later

Noah removes the covering of the ark -Noah is 601, 1st day, 1st month
God tells them to get off - 27th of the 2nd month.

So, 02/17/600 AN (anno Noah LOL) everything gets on
and 02/27/601 AN everything gets off.

So Noah was stuck on there for 1 year + 10 days.

Not 40 days, 375 days.

THe bible does not say how much notice Noah was given. Less than 600 years though.

Size 300 cubits by 50 cubits and 30 cubits high. about 450 ft by 75 ft by 45 ft.

Twice the length of HMS Victoria - which required a steel frame to avoid breaking up at sea.

Made from gopher wood, and pitched inside and out. (no mention of a steel frame though)

Some othe minor problems:

If you assume that to control the animals Noah was just alone with his wife and 3 sons and the son's wifes, yes. But I think God helped them with that. I think God influenced the wild animals to behave as tame as needed by Noah and family.

Dinosaurs? If they were alive by the time of the flood, yes. I figure they bring female and male dinosaur babies. God did not include a age requirement, just one of each gender.

Carnivores? Yes, but the requirement was two of each kind, I think God send Noah two lions cubs, two wolf cubs, etc. to be feed with milk from all the female mammals (cows, goats, sheep, camel, etc) on board. But you got timing wrong. It was 40 days and 40 nights of storm raining, then they stayed at the ark for additional months waiting for the waters to descend.
See Genesis 7:24 The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.

Advance notice? He gave him enough time to build the ark and to gather the animals and provisions for the trip. Just building the ark took years. Some think the 120 years God mention at Genesis 6:3 were the time given to Noah to build the ark. Since Gen 6:3 is talking about a death sentence to mankind and that sentence came into effect at the flood.

Ark dimensions? Hebrew: 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits high (about 140 meters long, 23 meters wide and 13.5 meters high)

Construction Materials?
* Yes basically wood, probably he used some metal nails or parts to hold the wood beams / panels togheter. Also he used a tar like material to coat or seal it from the outside and inside.
* Genesis 6:14 So make yourself an ark of cypress [c] wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.

Termites?
* Yes, just two of those.
* See Genesis 6:21 "You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them."
God instructed Noah to bring food for his family and for the animals to the ark. I figure he bring a log and/or some branches for the two termites.

The ark was made of Gopher Wood. It was 450 ft long, and 225 feet wide. The inside and outside of the ark were covered with pitch (Any of various thick, dark, sticky substances obtained from the distillation residue of coal tar, wood tar, or petroleum and used for waterproofing, roofing, caulking, and paving).

It was three stories high with one window in the third story.

Read the details from Genesis 6:14-16.

Noah was instructed to build the ark 1 year before the flood.
They were in the ark for 10 months and 13 days.

The ark was made out of wood, God helped Noah control the animals, hey probably had bread, if not, God probably supplied them somehow, the ark was suppose to be huge, I don't think it got into detail on how huge

1. the other poster is correct - about eggs. He had enough animals to reproduce all animal types as if before flood. Some of them did not come out same way as before the flood - 'cause climate conditions were different, and animals had to adjust.
It is well known fact that any dog is 5 degrees away from wolf. Thus, he did not have to take all different dog types etc..
2. Do you really think Noah would be able to get all of that on board when rain started by HIMSELF? - God was involved in that. Just as he was involved in keeping animals in control

When we human beings try to consider the concept of God, we usually try to put our own physical and natural constraints, laws and etc on him...It is my faith or belief that the creator of the universe, my God - lives completely outside the boundaries of space, time and etc. So just for farts and cornflakes I would propose that God could have boarded them inside the ark, nestled deep inside Noah's slipper (Noah never wore them anyway because he got them wet and they smelled kind of funky)...and for forty days they all watched reruns of "Everybody Loves Raymond" on a huge(micro huge) projection screen eating popcorn and drinking Cream Sodas...

I know sounds ridiculous right - but my God could have done it if he wanted to.

I can't even imagine the amount of feces in the ark with all the different kinds of animals for 40 days. Yuck.

Noah's ark is a story that is in the Bible to teach a point. It is part of Hebrew legend, and whatever seed of historical fact may be in it is lost in the mists of time. It is completely irrelevant to Christian faith whether it is true or not; that is not the point. The point is that Noah listened to God, even when it was unreasonable to do so, and God rewarded him for his faith. No one expects that this story should be taken as literal truth.
