As we know, back in the Roman days the only people who were "crusified" were the theifs, crooks, murderers and people who broke the law... now regardless of what 'breaking the law' meant to the Romans at that time, and trying to understand the true meaning of the word "GOD", why would God choose to 'die' on a cross (or in other words, be crusified) in the same way thieves and murderers were killed???
This has been bothering me for a long time, so I hope I'll get some serious answers.

About humiliation... I understand that, still I don't think it's right that God, or the son of God, or any divine should die like a criminal.
As for dying for our sins... well, if I believed that I would be a Christian now wouldn't I? :)

Questions are always followed by answers, most that do not satisfy. The important thing to notice is where the "irratation and botheration" is arising!

Why would he not?
According to the bible Jesus/'god' always went to those who were considered 'less' by the masses--the prostitutes, the lepers, the poor and downtrodden. And if this is in showing his nature wouldn't he have done this also?
According to the bible he did not place himself above others, nor did he live better than others, he was where he felt he was needed...giving hope to those who no longer had any, giving love and acceptance to those in need, he ministered to the 'common' people.
And if he truly broke a Roman law, why would he do something so as to not be held accountable for his actions or to place himself above the 'law' in any way wouldn't that be a sin?
Not sure what else to say, not Christian, so that is my answer.

Crucifixion was also reserved for insurrectionists that were not Roman Citizens. Because of his disruption of the temple during pass over week and the fact that his followers were proclaiming him the Messiah, the King of the Jews and the Son of God (a title reserved for the Emperor) the Romans were persuaded that he was an insurrectionist and they crucified him.
Later on, the biblical authors would turn this more into a conspiracy of the Jews to keep their little sect of Judaism alive during the Second Destruction of the Temple. This is what gave birth to European anti-Semitism which has always been based in the idea that the Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus. And really, all along, it was the Italians. Nice, huh?

There is an old alchemical saying, "You must suffer in order to be purified" In other words to make atonement and take on the sins of the world Christ had to take on the worst possible torturing possible. And by the way the Crucifixion was only the finale. His Trial actually began in the garden of Gethsemane(not many Christians acknowledge that, but it was the first place where his blood was shed).
But then what do I know about Christianity, I am only a smart-alec pagan.

Because He took our place on the cross to save us from our sins. He took our punishment on himself so all we have to do is believe and live for Him! We are theifs, crooks, murderers, law breakers... every one of us.
Theif = Did you ever snitch a cookie from your mom when you were a kid?
Crook = Have you ever even thought about how you could gain off another human being?
Murderer = Have you ever hated or were angry at another person?
Law Breaker = Have you ever sped in your car even 1 mph over?
We are horrible, sinful people... but God who was sinless came to take the punishment on that cross for our sin! He held the weight of our sins on his shoulders on that cross! All we have to do is turn to Him and trust Him with our life. Live every day trusting in Him!
This is the only answer and until you do believe that He took the place for your sins... there will never be another answer.

I think the main reason was that, in some sense, Jesus did break the law. He by definition, spoke blaspemy saying He was God and He was the way to God. Since the Jews were not allowed to kill Him, the Jews handed Him over to the Romans, and their punishment was crucifixtion. Even though what He said was true, the people didn't believe Him, and they killed Him through their killing system. Blasphemy was a very, very bad thing back in those days, so much so they would sometimes burn you or torture you or cut out your entrails. Since it was pentecost, i believe, Jewish authorities were not allowed to press charges against any criminal. So they let the Romans deal with it.

One reason is that is was prophesied in the book of Psalm 22 and had to be fulfilled. It was written a thousand years before the Romans adopted this inhuman method of executing their criminals.
Why did God choose this type of death? Because in a very excruciating painful way to die, it showed just how ugly our sins really are. God loved us enough to feel that this payment that came with a heavy price was worth it so that we could be reconciled to Him once again. Man that's love.

Because God did not Die on the Cross, Jesus Did, Which is God son. He chose to die this way because it a crime to be christian back then. And if you believe in God and Jesus, You were no better then a common criminal, It shows that even sinners will be forgiven.

This is a very good question! The Peopkle claimed he broke 2 Law's:
1. Roman Law: ....."whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar."John 19:12
2. Jewish Law: "The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God." John 19:7
In their eyes Jesus broke the LAW and both laws were punishable by death. The Jews couldn't put him to death because it was against the law for them to put any man to death:
John 18:31 Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:
The costom of the time for the Romans was to put LAW breakers to death by crucifying the law breaker.
Crucifixion is an ancient method of execution, where the condemned is tied or nailed to a large wooden cross and left to hang until dead.
This form of execution was widely practiced in Ancient Rome and in neighbouring Mediterranean cultures; similar methods were invented in the Persian Empire.[1]
Crucifixion was used by the Romans until about AD 313

i do no claim to know the thoughts of God.
i presume He chose his whole "life" here on earth before (if there is such a concept in God-thought) he even appeared here. He did a good job of living a life so that He would be remembered though dont you think? I presume he also knew how He would be remembered best. Or maybe he was just as lost as all of us, with jsut a little extra help, and he didnt choose any of it. point is, you cant know, i cant know, and no one can know. find a new hobby
