We are going trick or treating; we're handing the cards out to the people giving us candy

2007-09-28 07:06:25 · update #1

People obviously aren't reading this right!

WE ARE GOING OUT DOOR TO DOOR!!!

If I were to stay home; I would be handing out candy with the cards.

But we are going OUT.

I'm not handing anything to kids coming to my house...since I won't even be home; we are going OUT to get candy too! These will be given to the people giving us candy! not asking for anyone to do anything; just letting people know God loves them!

1 Jn 48, Matt 18: 34, 35, Romans. 8:31-39, Ro. 5:5-8, 2 Cor. 13:14 and Eph. 6:23-24.

Show them that God is love and show them the quality of God's unconditional love and unlimited forgiveness. It will convince them that God has nothing to do with hell because love throws fear outside. If you're in fear, then you can't worship with a willing heart for you are surely under diress. This is also not part of God's plan (at least I hope not).

Show them how we walk beside God the way Jesus walked beside his disciples never lording it over them but walking in humility as their big brother. He asks for our service but said that his load is light and he helps us carry it. The less fear and judgement people feel, the more willing they are to willingly contribute to God's plan. You might want to add that Jesus told people not to charge for their services. For you have received free so give freely. That will go over really well. Good luck.

I would find that totally insulting. Are you a JW? If not then I hope you aren't one of those people who complain about them going door to door. You would take something that is for kids, the going door to door for candy, into some stupid religious statement. I'm insulted. LOL I'm glad I spell checked I put I'm insluted. LOL I think that was a hint that I should just laugh this off. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Do you really think any kids will actually read them?

It is all about the candy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure you have good candy or you will be known as that kind of a house.

If I found out someone was passing out scriptures I would probably skip that house and I am christian.

What an absolutely beautiful idea!
I think your verse should be something that speaks about the love of God. Let people see the love that a follower of Christ ought to have, reflected in the children.
Something like this, from John:

1Jn 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

or, again from John:

1Jn 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

I'll bet you can find lots more.
Have a safe and blessed Halloween!!

The BEST suggestion I can give is DON"T DO IT! It's very sad but there are SO many people that can get very offended.......and maybe even file a lawsuit against you!

The only good message you should be giving back is..."Let Your Light Shine"....it's the ONLY way to spread the GOOD news!

There is a verse in the Old Testament about how it is OK to beat your slaves as long as they can get up within a few days. That sounds like a good one for Halloween.

Maybe something about god sending people to some eternal damnation for not believing in him??
Would that be appropriate?

Better idea...
Give the kids CANDY!!! That's what they want, not your stupid opinion on a card!!!

If you're not going to include candy, I hope you don't crush multitudes of children with that.

Don't do something anti-Halloween. Just use John 3:16 if that's what you want to do.

I'd rather you save the paper. If you gave it to me it would straight in the trash with out even being read. I'm not trying to be rude here, I am being honest. It IS offensive to me. Throwing it away is on the polite end of what I would be tempted to say or do.

You have the right to spread your beliefs, but I think during Halloween it is a bit inappropriate. If you truly want to spread the message maybe YOU should go door to door -
