trans fluid is going down (no leaks), and the engine oil is going up.

any other ideas what this prob could be?.

Yes the vaccum modulator can do that.

Trans fluid has no physical connection to engine oil---it can get sucked into the engine and get burned in the combustion chamber (which would smoke a lot) from a bad modulator--ruptured diaphram but it won't get into the oil pan unless it leaks past the rings when sitting for a while. Trans fluid can also get into the coolant via the trans cooler inside the radiator if it gets a leak but it's very, very rare although not impossible. Maybe someone's playing a joke on you by siphoning out some trans fluid and putting it in the oil....only thing I can think of.

i dont think so...when my vac modulater went it sucked tranny fluid into motor and burned it...thick white smoke frome exaust... i can see how it would get into oil. 89 6 cylinder ford pickup
