Crusades had nothing to do with religion. Do your homework. It was about the land. Witch trials occured with a group of hysterical zealots that caught up in a group think mentality and just as many christians pushed hard to put an end to them, and they eventually succeeded.

Wars and pain has been caused in the name of religion since the beginning of written history. Doesnt mean they were really the cause. Wars were caused for greed and power and land. Leaders used religion as an excuse and to gain support but had religion never existed they would have found another way to get their wars going.
People wanting to enslave people for their own selfish power reasons used religion as well. They also would have found another way to use and manipulate people because that is what they want, the power and control, regardless of what religion they claim to be.

Chad the crusades were about the land in the region and I hate to burst your hatefilled bubble, but the muslims were just as guilty of invading lands and perpetuating the crusades as the christians.

Can you name any group, any at all, that has not done issues that could be brought up? I don't think so, I would recommend that you do just a bit of history on the crusades, you will see that they were in fact an effort to take BACK the land that the invading Muslims had captured, of course you will not hear that. As to history, we all have a history do you not? are you completely pleased with you life actions? I doubt you are.
Now considering there are approx. 1,400,000,000 people alive today that claim to belong to the Christian faith, and the worst you can bring up occur ed almost 400 years ago, I think you are out of touch. In addition you fail to mentions the ten of billions of dollars the Christians give each year to ease suffering where ever it occurs, the ten of millions of meal served, the ten of millions of people clothed, housed, educated all in the name of Christianity. I think you owe them your thanks.

You forget the current crusade against homosexuals, the bombing of abortion clinics, the inquisition against science...

What's great with religion is that you don't need to learn anything, so when you don't learn your own history, you're doomed to repeat it.

You are assuming they were Christian's. Anyone can say it but the bible says you know a Christian by their actions.
