Brands and gauges are subjective to each player. I've enjoyed DR Zebra ZAE-12 strings on my acoustics and the electric, but can no longer find them. Elixer brand strings are top-notch because they are excellent jazz-playing strings--smooth with no squeekings.

Martin SP phosphor bronze are great to keep your calluses thickened and their projection is good. Many folk swear by D'Addario strings, GHS, and other brands.

You'll just have to experiment until you find the true string that pleases you the most.

Martin Marquis Phosphor Bronze - 13's for loudness or 12's to be easier on your fingers. They run about $4.00 on www.musiciansfriend.com.

For brand, I strongly prefer D'Addario. Specific guage ought to match what's recommended by the guitar's manufacturer--go too light and you lose tone, too heavy and you risk warping.
