"Date" means several things:

1. The edible fruit of a palm
2. The time of the year at which something happens
3. An appointment or social engagement between two persons who have a romantic interest on each other.
4. As a verb, (to date) it means to determine a date (#2) something is going to happen or to go on the social engagement described before (#3).

Oh, lots of things:
a fruit like a fig, to go out with someone of the opposite (or same, if you're gay) sex, an instance of such a going out, a plan for such a going out, a plan for a platonic meeting that you're pretty excited about, the day of the year

thought of another: to make (yourself) seem old, say by using old-fashioned expressions or talking about old tv shows. And to determine the approximate past time that something happened or was formed, and to have come into existence at a specified past time.
