I am a waitress, and 20% is more than most people give. Trust me that the waitress is pleased with 20%. The only thing I differ on is when you are with a large party. A lot of the times people think everyone else is tipping, so they slack off on the tip. Just remember that everyone else is thinking the same thing. It happens all the time. And if you get superb service, leave them a little more. Trust me when i say that the waitress will remember you, and ask to wait on you, and you'll get great service again.

First off - waiters and waitresses don't make much money by the hour. The Federal minimum wage for employees who are expected to be paid tips of $30 or more per month is $2.13/hour. If the employee is not expected to earn $30 or more in tips per month, the minimum wage $4.75. For everyone else the minimum wage is $5.75. Most restaurants, read ALL chain restaurants pay $2.13/hour to their employees who are expected to earn tips. $2.13 hour is $17 for a shift. How far does that go in today's economy. You can't even buy a tank of gas in the smallest car.

To your question - I generally tip 20%, rounded up/down slightly depending on the math. When I pay be credit I adjust the tip amount to end in an even figure, i.e. $65.00 vs. $64.23.

I holiday in northern Mexico lots. while you're in a vacationer section and in a vacationer eating place, then i might tip such as you the place interior the U. S.. besides the shown fact that, while you're in a rural section or a locals eating place, tipping is diverse. it does no longer be seen decrease priced to go away in basic terms 50 cents or a greenback (5 or 10 peso coin). maximum Mexicans do no longer tip at a typical eating place. additionally, the provider in such places at the instant are not as sturdy as a greater physically powerful end eating place. This is going hand in hand. maximum small eating places do no longer anticipate it. additionally, in the journey that your ingesting tacos, I doubt the meal got here to lots greater then some money in any case. maximum mom and dad eating places are very casual. i think of of it as you do no longer tip at a quickly foodstuff eating place yet you may at Olive backyard. maximum mom and dad little places grant provider like a quickly foodstuff save. You order, they create it on your table and that's it. So tipping isn't that substantial. do no longer make it easier to affluence mandate which you tip. this may well be seen an insult. actually throwing your money around.

I don't go by percentages... if the service is great, I leave a generous tip. If the service is crappy, I leave a crappy tip or no tip at all. They get paid hourly along with tip money so I feel no pity leaving without tipping someone who acts like the customer doesn't matter...
