Hoyt Axton wrote "Joy to the World" but I could not find the exact date it was created.
Since Three Dog Night had a hit with it in 1971, my best guess is that Hoyt penned it around that time.

The only song that i can recall with those lyric in it was a song from the 1960's/70's called Joy To The World. And jeremiah was a bull frog was the opening line. It was a hit for 3 dog night. And if it is the same song, I am not sure if it was ever used for a childrens tv show.

I'm so glad somebody asked this question - under whatever category because I am going mad with singing it all the time and not knowing what I am singing - its on an advert for children's t.v. - and I even like the advert - colourful and happy, not like a lot of things these days.

Apparently it was written on or before 1971 but never recorded until Three Dog Night did on their Naturally album.
