Normally a letterhead is made by going in to the Header/Footer option under Format. You would create the letterhead by arranging the information (name, address, logo if desired, etc) in the Header the way you want it to look.

Once done, save the results as a dot template file rather a doc document file. Use the "File Type" selection under where you enter the filename while saving it.

Then whenever you want to create something on letterhead, you load the letterhead template, type your letter, and save the finished letter as a doc file.

I would use the header and footers option in word if it were me.
