Why does God put us through trials?
It seems that it could not be for him since he has perfect knowledge of how we'd handle any situation.
But if it is for our benefit, do you think God has the ability to provide us with the knowledge or benefits of that test without suffering, pain, or discomfort?

Oregan Flower: Couldn't God give us that strength through other means that would also allow us to appreciate it?

Ha ha ha...
Don't be silly. God is the original Creation Scientist... and we all know that the Creation boys don't bother to test anything.
The first thing they ought to seriously test is prayer.... that's one of the biggest hoaxes of them all.

Why did God Create the Universe?
Consider the following: Great sculptors can produce, from the hardest stone or wood, life-like statues that express the most delicate feelings. But we cannot know these sculptors as sculptors unless their abilities are revealed. We can come to know or deduce their abilities from the statues or the process used to produce them. Every potentiality wishes to reveal the reality hidden within itself, to demonstrate what it knows by assuming an outward form. Seeds strive to sprout, sperms strive to join the egg in the womb, and floating bubbles strive to reach ground as drops of water.
The urge to show our potentialities, and thus to be seen and known by others, is an expression of weakness or defect, as all beings and their wishes are merely shadows of the original essence. However, the Creator has no defect or weakness. Remember that no single or composite manifestation of the essence is similar to the actual essence.
All artistry in the universe informs us of God's Names. Each Name, displayed by what has been created, illuminates our way and guides us to knowledge of the Creator's Attributes. They stimulate and awaken our hearts by His signs and messages carried to our senses.

What does the bible say? It says we should never think it odd when "firey trials" come our way, that they produce perseverence, character and hope.
God desires to refine us. Just as gold is refined in a burning fire, His "fire" can hurt sometimes. But He is taking off the dross, those things about our character that are interfering with what He would have us be on this earth, to serve Him.
That is, if you place your life in His hands, which I have. I know any "pruning" He is doing for His good purposes. And yes, it hurts sometimes. But the end result will be the kind of person He desires me to be; He will "prune away" nothing I need.

I think we come into this world knowing the lessons we need to learn. We put ourselves through trials in order to learn those lessons. God does not punish us we are given the abillity to do that to ourselves.

i think he could provide us with the knowledge without giving us trials, but it would be a shallow increase.
trials are like exercising. i think he doesnt give us more than what we can handle, with his help. by making sacrifices, and going through struggles, we are more humble and spiritual.
my opinion anyways...

God tests us to make us stronger. So yes, it is always for our benefit.
And yes, God has the ability to provide us with EVERYTHING we need. If He were to give us everything we need without causing us any kind of effort or pain, we wouldn't appreciate it nearly as much.
God bless!

No because then you would not learn. Analogy: You know not to go over the speed limit, but you do. It is not until after you get a $100.00 ticket that you have learned your lesson and probably won't break the law again.

Sorry to hear that you are struggling with your sexual attraction to men. I'd imagine that would be a difficult test if you were indoctrinated into a religion that claims that you are a sinner for these feelings, rather than acknowledge who you are.

Considering the demands and the consequences- I'd say he does it to be an @$$#013.
Huh- God's "lets mess with my most destructive and violent species on earth, disallow everything they find enjoyable- and threaten eternal TORTURE if they screw it up!!! HAHAHAHA!!! This is better than ESPN!!!! YEEE HAW..." suggests that God is a vindictive hillbilly who just likes watching his creations suffer and kill one another.
