Yes this is absolutely true as each liquor affects your brain chemistry differently. There is of course always the difference between beer, wine, and hard liquor due to strength. But there is even differences between hard liquors or let's say wine and champagne. Champagne tends to get people more intoxicated because carbonation effects how the liquor enters your body. When it comes to hard liquor I have a higher tolerance and different drunk when I drink Vodka compared to Tequila per se. I get happy drunk on Vodka and very angry drunk on Tequila. In your case it just seems that if you drink beer or wine you are allowing yourself to get drunk slowly, whereas hard liquor just hits you.

I agree. A vodka drunk is easier to deal with than a tequila drunk.

When I'm drinking vodka I'm relaxed and lazy. Tequila, however, has me suggesting we go out and do things, like walk to to the next town. I never think about how I might get back.

I don't know why, but I agree.

When my wife drinks vodka she gets happy. When she drinks rum & tequila she goes crazy, wild, wants to do dumb things like take the boat out or argue with cops. When she drinks gin she gets mean.

Wine or beer contains less alcohol by volume, unless you dillute your vodka, whiskey or other liquor down with mixers. Alcohol is alcohol, is the amount you drink not what type.

It's true for me at least. I can drink a ton of beer easily. But one glass of wine makes me loopy. Don't even get me started on hard liquor, I'll get wasted.
