tricky huh? One cat will eat one mice in 3 minutes on average.
If 100 cats eat 100 mice starting at the same time, then they will take an average of 3 minutes. If you want the cumulative time or one-at-a-time, then add up each time from each cat which will make 300 minutes.

Three.

If 3 cats eat 3 mice in 3 minutes and 100 cats eat 100 mice, the time should stay the same, so it's three

Depends. If three cats each eat 3 mice in 3 minutes, (1 mouse per minute) then one would have to assume that 100 cats each eat 100 mice in 100 minutes (assuming they don't go pop before finishing!). If, however, the three cats are only faced with 3 mice between them and each take 3 minutes to eat, then one would have to assume that 100 cats would take 3 minutes to eat a mouse each.

3 cats eat 3 mice in 3 minutes...

So, the rate of work is 3 minutes to eat one mouse (divide the amount of work (mice) by the number of workers (cats)- how many cats are eating how many mice?)

So, 1 cat eats 1 mouse in 3 minutes.

As long as the ratio of work to workers is the same, the answer is the same- 100 mice and 100 cats- 3 minutes. A million cats, a million mice- 3 minutes.

If you said '100', you fell into the trap of treating all the numbers equally. It is NOT 1 cat eating 1 mouse in 1 minute- if it were, then 3 cats would eat 3 mice in 1 minute.

I think that this is a trick question. If it takes each of the 3 cats to eat 3 mice in 3 minutes, then on an estimation, each of the 100 cats takes 3 minutes to eat a mouse.

Threeeeeeeeee!?!?!
If it takes three cats to eat three mice then on average it takes a cat three minutes to eat a mouse.... cause I'm assuming they are eating the mice at the same time..... so then just because there is more cats and more mice doesn't mean the cats eat slower.... Right?!?!
