Star those that cannot accept bi-racial relationships in this day and age are pretty closed minded. There is not only nothing wrong with these relationship but in my opinion there should be more as more people would learn about different cultures. My son being a white male just married a young female who originated from Taiwan. He was her tutor in university helping her learn English as a second language. Well one thing lead to another and they lived together for 4 years and just last month exchanged vows. According to her culture it is still very normal for the male to ask the father for their daughters hand and he was man enough to travel to Taiwan to ask her dad's permission. She is a lovely young woman and we value her as a very positive part of helping our family grow. Life is far to short to worry about what others may think of your relationship and what colour, creed or race others may think of your partners. Have fun and good luck in having people turn their heads and look at that attractive bi-racial couple. You keep an open mind and hope that some of your friends follow your lead. Best of luck.

We tend to get our beliefs and bias from family and friends. Your friends most likely come from families that have a strong moral belief that races should not mix. If someone, such as yourself, suggests otherwise or wants to step out of that "safety zone" then you are setting yourself up to be the outcaster. What really matters is how you family would feel about you dating someone of a different race. If your parents are accepting to that then maybe you should find alternate friends. If your parents are not accepting then it would probably be best if you wait to date outside of your race until you are living out from under your parents. I am assuming you still are living at home.
It also depends on where you live, bigger cities tend to be more accepting then small rural towns. Everyone has their own preferences. Therefore, don't feel bad because you find a certain race attractive and your friends don't. You just need to be mature enough to know that no matter where you go there will always be racism. I wish that wasn't true but it is. You will need to learn how to take things with stride and follow your heart.

Relationships are hard to start with. The more you have in common the easier that relationship is to work through. The less in common or different the more work it is. Every partner has good and bad similarities and differences. If there are differences of this extent it seems it would make it even more difficult to get a working relationship.

Not only do you have to deal with the aspects of ja non-mix relationship you just added; Racism, family troubles, social pressures, and ethnic differences to the mix.

These added pressure can be worked through in the right circumstances but most people have a hard time in non-mixed situations alone.

For me I am not attracted to black women. I respect black people, I just don’t want to have sex with them. I am not being ignorant or racist as implied by others here It just doesn’t do it for me.

Because people tend to fear ( and criticize) what they themselves cannot understand. Just keep dating people that make YOU happy. No matter what.
Imagine how boring the worlds people would look if we all dated inside out "own" race. Talk about an unbranching family tree! ( a stick).
The ability to choose you own mate and to further diversify your own family tree is a wonderfull thing, this "Choice" is what sets us apart from the animails..
Love see's no colour, hears no accent and most importantly is the glue that binds us together as a species.
You are what matters. Not the opinion of others. Be strong and firm in your choices and teach your (future?) children the same. Love one another , love yourself. We are all one anyway..... By the way Im not some stupid peace ,love, dope hippy. I just wish that more people would get over this "race" thing. There are far more important things to worry about in this world.

Well you did not say if you where male or female. The only reason I can see against bi-racial relationships is that if a couple has children they end up being not really white and not really black. However it seems to be working very well for Tiger Wood

Oh, the ignorance never ends!

People have a problem accepting something that doesn't follow their moral code. So, they choose to interfere and try to change what they do not like.

What's so wrong about loving someone? I have never understood why people get so angry at love. The self righteous need to take all of that negative energy and focus it into changing something that is truly bad.

yea im the same i look past color if im attracted to a person then thats all that matter. but my mom hates it, she believes in the old "stick to your own race standard" the only thing that i do know is most people that dont accept bi-racial dating are prolly racist i know for a fact my mom is because shes addmitted it to me. and ive told her that im not like that and shes just going to have to learn to accept it. some people are just too small minded. if your friends wont accept someone you love/like because of their race then they arent your true friends. you should talk to them and tell them how you feel
about all this.

Because the majority of people in this and most other industrialized nations of the world haven't been exposed to this for very long and the opposite was standard for over 500 years. I'm all for any and all human beings being fair game for strengthening our collective DNA; But, if your diction is any indication of the results, I'll have to review my policies...

It's just ignorance on their part, just ignore it.
Remember also that this same kind of thing happens from the other angle too, as in some black people frowning upon interracial relationships, so it's not just a white thing.

Well, let me tell you what I tell my children. I always tell my children to respect everybody regardless of the color of the skin. I mean listen; every single person on this earth is the same on the inside. it is just the color of the skin that makes us different. We all have feelings right? So what's the big deal. If God meant for us to be different from one another, He would have created us different on the inside too, right!
