Definitely Manhattan....but of course that is the most expensive too. I would like living there b/c of how easy it is to walk everywhere, always something going on, can walk through central park and attend events there, tons of shopping, etc.

Brooklyn! When I first moved here a couple years ago from the Midwest, I moved to Brooklyn because it was cheaper. I planned to save money and eventually I'd be able to afford to live in Manhattan. Well I eventually saved enough money and I stayed in Brooklyn! I absolutely love it here.
Unlink Manhattan, we don't get the tourists. That's the number one reason I prefer it. I also like that it has a small town charm to it--each neighborhood is like it's own town. People are amazingly friendly here and it's a great laid-back alternative to Manhattan.
And if I ever want to go over there, it's only 20 minutes on the train!

I live on the UES and have my whole life. About a year ago I started thinking I should move to the West side. I live in a great place, but a place on like 59th and 10th would be a lot more fun!

Tribeca in Manhattan. For a one-bedroom apartment, it's $4000 a month. Many celebrities live in the neighborhood, and it's really trendy as far as the arts.

Queens, specifically Jamaica or Astoria. I have family in Jamaica, but the places aren't so expensive in Astoria. I asked many many realtors about where was an inexpensive place to live that was close to Manhattan, and they all suggested Astoria, Queens.
