If u reinstall Windows over your present copy, to replace missing files, you don't have a problem. However, if you format and reinstall Windows, you will need your discs to replace the programs again.

Sorry. If you format to uninstall XP then reinstall, you will be starting fresh.

Suggest you first consider a Windows Repair. You don't say what the problem is but maybe a repair will correct it.

If you decide instead to uninstall, I suggest you first copy to external storage any and all files you want to save. Then when you reinstall the programs, you can copy them back.

You will need the disks, for registry information. With out it, your program will not function properly.

Before you take this action,

Scan your computer for any virus.
and run a registry scaner. Check out the one at pctools dot com
