This was where the christian creed was rewritten in order counteract valid loopholes discovered by arius, concerning the Trinity. Does this action not just show that the church waswilling to change vital elemants of their worship just sothat othars would not steal their followers???

What's with you people?

Do you read a website somewhere, remember a fraction of it, and then make up what ever you want to make up?

You're completely and utterly mistaken in your understanding of early church history.

And then, to put the cherry on top of this 'question,' you'll probably select as the best answer someone who agrees with the way you wrongly misunderstand history.

Perfect.

Godspeed.

1) There was no creed before Nicea I. Where do you get the idea that any "creed" was "rewritten" ??

2) Arius "discovered" no "loopholes" - what he taught as a Priest in Alexandria ran counter to Orthodox beliefs and the Church did what she was required to do - combat heretical teachings.

3) Trinitarian controversies did not arise until the later Councils. Nicea had one main topic - the divinity of Christ. "Homoousios" vs. "Homoiousius". There was no "changing" of anything. Only defending.

4) Do you think Arianism died out? Hardly. The Jehovah's Witnesses are the modern day "Arians".

Everything and every being has to change in order to continue living. The church is no exception.

If the chuch or creed does not change with the times, it dies.

Roman Church councils are conevened to protect against false teaching, councils clearly define what the church believes. Councils don't change belief, but PROTECT it against heresy. God bless.

No it just shows that Arius was a heretic and schismatic egotist.

Look...

The trinity is a Biblical doctrine. I don't care about what any creeds say.......it's in the Scriptures.

What we have in Scripture today is exactly the way it was meant to be......it was ordained by the sovereign Lord.

Don't you know, Jesus was blonde with blue eyes... NOT HEBREW... Oh no.

He was the only white guy in the middle east 2000 years ago.
