is it your intent to understand what i think, or are you looking to try and sway me with your cleaver attempt to make me feel small.
Most of the world IS religious.
(but everyone else jumped off the bridge)
A small percentage of the world's population use English so I going to assume your a christian and as such represent a very small portion of the global population yourself
Honestly honey do you really think that I haven't given some thought to this god thing before now.
Have you ever spent a moment thinking what if there is no god. What that would mean - - - - that's right honey a f ing scary place to live with no reason for existence no one helping or watching over you and best of all when you die you dead. oh wish I could except the thought that when I die I going to be with friends and family that's sounds real rice. I wish I could believe that the hand of god will save the planet from being smacked by a rock from space. I wish I could accept that Christmas is a celebration of birth of a savior. but alas I can not. even after this clever prodding from you.

It isn't narcissism, it just a belief. I'm not going to believe in something just because most of the world believes in it. That is a ridiculous reason to believe in God and anyone who uses this as a reason is simple and sad.

I mean I don't wear Nike shoes, even though they are the most popular shoe in the world. That doesn't make them the best shoe, or the right shoe for what I need. In fact, I think Nike shoes are horrible shoes.

Well, there are more polytheistic religions than monotheistic. So what makes you think that believing in a single god is right? In addition, what makes many theists think believing in their specific god is right and any other way is wrong? Arguing from popularity is weak, at best.

Considering most atheists simply do not believe in a god or gods, and don't seem to hold any "I'm right and you're wrong" opinion on it (though some do, as do some theists), I fail to see how your generalisation has any merit whatsoever.

No, I'm not an atheist. But I am open-minded, and I do hold the view that gods & such are simply man's personification of forces he does not understand.

The thing is - we really do try and understand. We're surrounded by theists. It's pounded into us daily.

"since most of the world..."
Sorry- but the majority doesn't get to rule here. In economically developed countries, most of them are NOT overwhelmingly religious. America is unique in the world as a religious country that is also economically prosperous.

We don't believe in your god, or A god, any more than you believe that Zeus was responsible for throwing lightning bolts from the sky.

Narcissism ? Not at all . Just the lack of belief in anything not of the natural world . Supernatural = superstition . Simple as that . I have never claimed that I am right and others wrong.
What makes you think that you're right and that non-superstitious people are wrong ? Is it narcissism ?

We ARE answering the question. Just not the way you want it answered, apparently.

It's actually more narcissistic to think that a god created the universe especially with us in mind. The truth is, we're nothing special in the grand scheme of things. Religion makes people feel special about their place in the universe, and THAT is a major reason why so many people believe in religious stories. Since you brought it up.

Again, the fact that "most people" believe in something has absolutely nothing to do with whether it's true.

What makes you think that a billion Muslims are wrong to believe in Allah? Or to wage war in the name of a god?

It's about the evidence. Or should I say the lack of it.

Many people can believe in something and still be incorrect.

Seriously, in a world with this many galaxies (see video), do you think that it all boils down to a male god with specific rules about pork or mixing two types of clothing?

Now I can't find the original question. Did you delete it?

narcissism (2) A psychological condition characterized by self-preoccupation, lack of empathy, and unconscious deficits in self-esteem.
If the shoe fits, wear it.

Narcissism is characterized by 9 specific behavior identifiers, including a lack of empathy for others, insisting on special treatment, exploding anytime anyone criticizes you... much more descriptive of Fundies, if you ask me.

Trusting one's own judgment is far, far removed from what you describe. It is, in fact, quite healthy.

Does it make it right if the whole world believes in racism? Does it make it right if the whole world worships money? It is not the crowd of people involved in a practice that makes it right. Just an application of your basic common sense to discern what is right.
