If ONE does and causes an accident that is ONE too many.

Personally, when the rare time I get a call I pull over to the side of the road. I don't think it is worth the time effort, money, and possible loss of life or limb to have a conversation while driving and tie up one hand so my response to emergencies will be reduced.

California has passed a law against talking on the cell phone while driving. Many states are requiring teenagers to sign a contract saying they won't do that.

Pretty soon insurance companies will get into the act and tact on a rider of $100 extra per year if you have a cell phone and drive, unless you have a hands free cell phone or sign a pledge to not use it during driving. The proof of the higher accident rate is there in black and white and where California goes the nation soon follows so it is only a matter of time before talking on a cell phone while driving is illegal.

Until then it is clearly stupid and reckless.

I think almost every one uses a cell phone while driving.
I don't because I am afraid that I'll have an accident.
I was in an accident 50 years ago when there were no cell phones and broke many bones and was told I would never walk again. I did but it took me 2 and 1/2 years to walk again with lots and lots pain. Now I walk with a cane and should be getting a power chair soon.

In doing a Google search it shows that 75% of people on the road talk on their cell phone while driving . I believe it too.

Never. I drive a manual so I need to be keeping my hands on the wheel and shifter, and cell phones are very distracting while driving. I have more value for my life and others on the road than a silly conversation.

I do! But I try not to since it can be very distracting. I think its even worse that some people text while they are driving. That is just crazy! I would never do that! But, then again, I don't have text on my phone :P
