Lead by the Dalai Lama! He is a great guy, very wise.

China illegally invaded the country. They don't belong there. It's not theirs.

If Tibet ever did regain its freedom, it would probably be better served by a secular democratic government, with the Dalai Lama remaining as a religious and cultural leader.

Why is this addressed at atheists? Are you assuming that they would rather have communists in power than religious people?

As an agnostic leaning toward atheist, I can assure you that communism makes me ill. Politically, I'm somewhere between conservative and libertarian. Where this idea comes from that atheists are all communists baffles me. It's just ignorance, I guess.

It should be led by the Dalai Lama. Just because I happen to disagree with his outlook on faith, does not make him in any way a less wise and qualified leader for his country.
And just because I am an atheist, does not mean I in any way support or condone the conduct of an atheistic government when their actions include the suppression of belief

I'm more of an agnostic than a devout anti-religious athiest, but to answer your question:

I dislike the Chinese government, plus the ethnocentrism of the Han Chinese population. But I think Tibetans were mostly illiterate peasants in a feudal state when the monks were in charge. Tibet, like everywhere else, needs to move with the times and become modern and well-educated, while keeping a modicum of tradition.

Free Tibet! Is it working?

i don't think our opinions matter. if the Tibetans want freedom from China (and they do) then they should be free to self govern themselves in whatever way they see fit...after all they were independent before China "annexed" them.

religious persecution of any kind is terrible.

This seems to me to be a foolish question. Why should people's religious persuasion affect their opinion on this?
