Those saying that greyhounds are couch potatoes are entirely correct. Plus you would be doing a good deed if you adopted a retired racer! They have a hard time finding homes for all of those dogs and while I won't say they were mistreated when they are racers, they weren't given the love and attention that you could give them for sure. They are appreciative and ready to relax and go with the flow! It seems that most of them did almost all the running they cared to do while racing.

Plus!!! No puppy messes as they are usually bt 2 and 4 yrs old. :)

I would say either another bulldog, a french bulldog although they are a good bit smaller, a retired greyhound, or if you are up for a much larger dog, a french mastiff- that's what I have, and the disposition and energy level is quite similar to the English Bulldog, I take him for a 30 minute walk every morning, and he sleeps away the rest of the day.

Oh, LOL, I was going to suggest an English bulldog when I originally read your question. I have one too (Manny), and he likes to snooze the day away and sleep in on weekends, LOL. He actually looks sort of annoyed when he has to go on a walk. Why can't you just get another bulldog if yours is friendly? Mine has some "issues" with aggression, so we've been advised not to get a second dog, but if yours is cool and mellow and doesn't mind other dogs, a second bulldog would be great.

Since you're already familiar with the breed, why not get another bulldog. All dogs need excercise, some just have a lower energy level than others. We have two Greman Shepherds... very high energy dogs so we all get plenty of excercise.

I visited a Greyhound rescue recently and contrary to what most people believe....greyhounds are basic couch potatoes. They enjoy being walked and attention, but surprisingly are suited for apartment living because they enjoy nothing more than being lazy. This surprised me. You might want to contact a Greyhound rescue to see what they have to say. You will be surprised also.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel...very sociable dogs...a little small (10-15 lbs.), but very loyal, sweet, and playful. The King Charles adapt to your life style and have no real exercise requirements...have fun, good luck

I don't know what to suggest but I will say be sur you don't get a Border Collie or any other type of "working" breed of dog! Working breeds usually need to be worked and won't be couch potatoes.

How about a Basset Hound. They're lazy too! We used to walk ours once aday for about 1/2 hr, and that's all she would do.

believe it or not, greyhounds don't require much exercise. Bigger dog, yes. But they are probably equally lazy.

My friend had two Greyhounds that were total couch potatoes. They would run maybe once per week around the yard. Mostly they just slept. They were very calm and happy.
