I have both XP and Vista on several different machines that I use regularly. I really do prefer XP as an OS. I get much fewer BSOD's on XP, and it is generally more stable in my opinion. I am enjoying some of the Vista features, but there are also some serious programming oversights in Vista that I think are unacceptable. XP for me - at least until Vista is more stable.

Once configured, Vista works fine. I, like you, have Vista on one machine and XP on another. I find Vista to be much faster and way more stable then XP. It does need some cleanup work before it run good and smooth, but then, so does XP.

I also have these two machines, along with my laptop networked. All three machines joined the network flawlessly, and work together as if they were one.

Yep, I like Vista, and I think that after the first service pack comes out early next year, it will be even better.

I've had to get a new pc with Vista.
What a pile of dog do.

I spent a week getting all my peripherals to work again.

I work as a data miner which involves running search programs across large data files. Jobs that took an hour under XP now take 3 times as long under Vista even though the Vista PC has more memory and faster processors than the one running XP.

Angela much prefer working with XP, vista supposedly has more security built in, and is better to use if you are using your PC as the hub for your entertainment centre.

Beginning with XP and now Vista, I have set the system to run on Classic View. Makes life easier for me. See how to do it here:

I'm sure Vista is all right. Just takes some getting used to, although I have to say I resent having to relearn with every update.

Vista is OK. We are used to XP of course, and I recall that when XP first came out everyone was complaining about how awful it was, and vowing never to abandon Windows98. It's all a question of familiarity.

Until I get around to buying a DX10 capable video card I have absolutely no use for it.

I won't be happy about having to switch over to an operating system that does nothing useful that XP doesn't already do either.

Especially as I expect find it's more of a resource hog, and that software support for it is probably screwed all to heck.

I agree. We have the same thing. Vista does not work with some of our older stuff ie. printer/copier. Also, if you are into pc games Vista does not like them all.
I like the xp better.

I have Vista on my PC and I don't honestly notice the differences any more, apart from some software not working, like Nero 6.
