"buck". I still have mine from the '70's and it's perfectly fine. Still carry it actually.

leatherman makes great folding knives, as does buck, I have a couple of "Buck Light" (no pun intended, that's really their name) folding knives that I have had for over 20 years. I've dressed out more game animals with them than I can count, cut cords, string, leather, you name it with them. They take a very sharp edge, the only thing I found negative is that they don't hold the edge as well as I'd like. But since I carry a two stone set and a small steel, I just touch them up as I need to and keep going.

The "Buck" Folding Hunter still as popular now as it has been the last 25+ years..Durable,holds an edge..Takes rough handling and use like no other folder can....and still works and looks great......For the money I don't think you can honestly do better....

Another vote for the buck knife. When I don't carry scabard knife that's my choice. Had it since 76, still in great condition, definately one fine tool.

benchmade, cold steel, spyderco, blackhawk, gerber, are all good brands, i've heard that buck has kinda gone downhill lately.
strider is supposed to make quality knives, but they're overpriced, and sold on a lie.
