The people who presume to know what others thought or intended, over 2000 years ago, are wrong. Enough said. Good day!

No they weren't.

When Jesus spoke of his return, he was speaking of a spiritual return, not a physical one.

All of this stuff that kook John Nelson Darby says is yet to occur, has already occurred during the lifetime of the disciples just like Jesus clearly prophecised. The Book of Revelation is John's vision of the samething. The end of the age = the end of ancient jewish society at the hands of the beast. The beast as described in Reveloation = 666 the number of Nero Caesar. The day of pentecost, the release of the holy spirit and the establishment of the church are all part of the spiritual second coming of Jesus.

The battle was won at the cross two thousand years ago.

Matthew 24:34 (NKJV) "Assuredly, I say to "YOU", "THIS GENERATION" will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

In this verse, Jesus is speaking directly to his disciples about "their generation" during "their lifetime". It has nothing to do with the 21st century. If Jesus meant this verse to mean a future generation, He would have said "generation yet to come" or something to that effect.

HOW COULD JESUS RETURN IN APOSTLES LIFETIME?

The bible has got to be published and circulating in the world to tell all that Satan has been cast down in the end time Rev.12:3,4,6-11,12; that Satan has a short time in the end time.

At 2513, O.T. 1110 years, 39 books, many write, done 443 before Christ.

N.T. 50 to 100 years, 27 books, many write.

KJV Bible published to the world 1611 after Christ, 396 years ago and many translations, Dan.8:12-14 [ 2300 day years after Babylon world Empire #3, ended Judah kings, there will be no king but king Jesus at his second coming, after the WORD has circulated from 2300 to 2670, we are 2613 and Satan has been in his short time from 2520, this generation as father, son, and his son, will not pass away until all is fulfilled, 2580 or Dan.12:11 [ 2x 1290 = ] 2580, then they will pass away as all is fulfilled, so tell next generation 1Thes.5:1-9,21; after 1Thes.4:15-17; all time is know but day and hour ];

THE TIME FRAME GIVEN BY GOD IS RIGHT ON TIME

Jesus himself prophesied his return while some of those "standing there" were still alive (Matthew 16:28). It didn't happen. So yes, the disciples were wrong for expecting it.

Unless God is an alien, then I think so are the "rapture ready" people today.

As for what the questioner asked, I've linked one of more references than you can count that itself gives you all the quotes you need beyond the above noted scripture. I find people's lack of knowledge of the history of faith to be somewhat disquieting, I must admit. How can you not know that these things were believed and never took place?

Kind thoughts,

The 'Rapture' as it is taught by some modern Christian churches is something they created. Therefore, the Apostles knew nothing about it, did not teach it and could not have been right or wrong about it.
Jesus said he will return and that no man will know the day nor the hour.

Jesus (the perfect man) came to save and instruct his disciples (imperfect men and women) ...and to train them to continue spreading his message of salvation.
They didnt understand everything clearly ...and didnt have to.
Jesus focused on getting the important stuff in their minds ...they didnt even belive him when he said that he had to die and come back to life after three days.(until they actually saw it happen)
...clarity came for them over time ...Jesus knew that it would and didnt focus on the issue.
about the rapture ...Jesus said that the generation that sees Israel become a nation again will witness the return of Jesus.
what does the word "generation" mean?
...in any case Jesus' return is closer now than when the disciples asked the question.
I figure this way ...any person can enter eternity on any day at any time ...God controls that ...we dont.
and most people live on this planet for less than 100 years ...the point...be ready ...even if the rapture is delayed ...yours isnt.

Jesus did return to his disciples after being crucified. Do you guys read the Bible or just throw out questions?

Mark 16:11-13

11 When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it.

12 Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking in the country. 13These returned and reported it to the rest; but they did not believe them either.

Just read John 20 about how many times he appeared to his disciples after the resurrection.

hows this for contradictory info regarding the second coming?

In the gospels Jesus often referred to the Reign of God being right 'at hand'[3] and 'these things' - including the Son of Man's coming in his kingdom - occurring with immediacy to his listeners. "Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who shall not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom" (Matthew 16:28, Mark 9:1, Luke 9:27). Both Matthew and Luke also include the statement, "This generation (γενεά) will not pass away until all these things have taken place" (Matthew 24:34, Luke 21:32)[4].

Yes, they were wrong. The kingdom of heaven is not of this world, Jesus was attempting to prepare all people for the next world, His world.

The world in which Jesus lives is a spiritual world, you can not see His world if you are still in the physical world, your body must be shed, only then can you invision Jesus and the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus will not come to where we are, we will we go to Him, many will go to His world, but few will be chosen to stay and live with Him.

While the rapture is certainly not a Biblical teaching, the disciples lives are certainly not over yet.
