same reason everyone else becomes drunk, the drink too much.

getting drunk has long been an "escape from problems"

if i were in his position, im sure i would feel extremely overwhelmed by my new role in humanity and would want some for of temporary escape as well.

i do not believe that this was a deliberate attempt by noah to get drunk and be seen naked by his children.

he got drunk, got naked (as many of us tend to do) and his children saw his nakedness-- which could actually be a metaphor for his children seeing his vulnerability, just as adam and eve were suddenly ashamed of their own nakedness after eating the "forbidden fruit".

there is probably more to this story that has been edited out over the years, and im extra things have been added in order to stress the point of the author.

point is Noah was a man. God chose him (i have been told it was due to his direct ancestral roots to adam and eve) but that does not mean he was without sin or perfect by any means.

It may not have been Noah's fault that he became drunk. It can all be explained by the vapor canopy theory. If there was a canopy of water vapor surrounding the earth before the flood, then the canopy would have filtered out the radiation from some of the rays from the sun, thus making plants take longer to grow. The story of Noah getting drunk is right after the flood, so Noah could have thought that he was only making grape juice, but he actually waited too long and it became wine since the vapor canopy was gone.

Noah did not become a drunk. Have you ever been drunk? If so does that make you a drunk? Noah was a man highly esteemed by God for his walk with God. Sin can be forgiven, and therefore we know that Noah's sin is forgiven and he is in heaven right now. Why else would god use him as a poster child for righteousness?.....

Ezekiel 14:14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.

The fact that Noah got drunk and was seen naked in his tent goes to prove that even prophets make mortal mistakes. We don't know why he got drunk or why it was considered such a sin for Ham to see him naked in the tent. Shem and Japeth then used a cloak and walked backward into the tent to cover their father.

He was saved by believe God, and taking God at his word.

Yes, after all he did in the Bible, you see the part where he got drunk. getting drunk is a sin.

The Bible stops at that point, he lost his testimony but he was still saved, and his family as well. He was the only preacher at that time.

Today, Christians can be saved and get into things like drinking and drunkeness. We do not lose our salvation, but you can lose your testimony.

Noah did this because, just like you and me, he was not infallible. A person who is called and fulfills God's plan in his life is subject to falling spiritually or morally because he is human. We should consider this when we hear of religious or other leaders who do wrong. We are not qualified to judge their spiritual condition; we leave that to God. Only he knows the state of their hearts, their repentance, and the tears they have cried because of their wrongdoing. They are just as entitled to God's mercy as you and I.

It doesn't say he became a drunk... it says he got drunk. If a person gets drunk once or even twice, that doesn't make them A Drunk. *sigh*

Now, after spending 2 yrs on a boat with a bunch of animals, wouldn't you want to party once you found dry land? ;-)

Hey- they just found five new species in Viet Nam. Someone call Noah and tell him that he's got to put them on his ark.

The ridiculousness of the 'ark' story is unbounded.
