God didn't allow anyone hurt Caim, He allowed him go away and start a new life somewhere else. Why? This passage is very discouraging, isn't it?

I believe Caim had the chance to redeem himself in another life and that is waht happens to us, we all have several chances to redeem ourselves by living several lives. I know you are going to say that's not what is in the Bible and that God gave Caim another chance in his life (not after his death), but as everything in the Bible, wouldn't that be a parable?

Your thoughts?

Ooops Cain... In Portuguese his name is Caim, as I am Brazilian I can sometimes mix things, but it doesn't matter as long as you know whom I am talking about, right?

Lisa W, I thought Cain was jealous and envy of Able, that's why he killed him...

God is very understanding and compassionate.....God knows we all mess up, and knows we all can change through experiences. God knows we can learn positive learning through our negative mistakes. God is patient.... Although what Cain didn't realize it wasn't his time to blossom, to be the best that he could be, that's why he killed his brother, he was jealous of his brother.
Perhaps Cains brother's spirit was more advanced in that aspect, that he has lived more life's. Cain can recover some in that life depending on how much he had learn through his mistakes.

Cain's first sacrifice was rejected becuase he didn't give the best he had, whereas Able gave the best of his flock (a blood sacrfice, to boot). When Cain killed Able, he was giving God the most important thing he had, in a very screwed up way, I think.

Perhaps God saw that he needed to be punished, but also spared. Cain was like a child, as the knowledge of good and evil was still new to humans. Death might have been too much.

Additionaly, being cast out alone into the wilderness wasn't exactly a nice punishment.

Cain was cast out of society. He states that his punishment was more than he could bear. The scripture states that the mark was placed upon him so that the rest of society could tell his seed apart from the rest and avoid them. I don't see this as discouraging at all.
There is another reason for this mark that I don't feel comfortable discussing on this forum. Essentially God had a reason for having a lineage that was identifiable from the others in order to suitably place His children here on earth. He knows are abilities and gave us assignments here on earth that we could handle. Some were given more responsible positions than others according to their respective abilities.

it's Cain, not Caim, and in the bible fairy tale, god placed a mark upon him and cursed him to live untill the end of the earth. makes you wonder why noah didn't see him swimming alongside the ark doesn't it?

It is very encouraging, because it shows the incredible forgiveness of God.

Adam and Eve went on to have other sons and daughters.
