I'm a freshman in college. My current major is professional pilot. My life long goal is to fly for the navy. I'v talked to recruiters dozens of times to try to get straight answers but so far have not come up with a reasonable plan. My first (and what the recruiter told me) is to enlist after my first year of college. After I get my first duty station I can start applying to be an officer. I know that plan has a lot of flaws in it but from what i know it is very hard to just come out of college with a degree and tell the navy you want to be an officer. I heard it was very competitive that way and much more likely that you will get picked for OCS if you were enlisted prior. My second plan is to join the reserves and still continue until i get my degree than request a transfer to active duty. The flaw in that i heard is that it is very hard to be transferred to active duty from reserves. Please if anyone can help tell me what would be the best way to become a naval aviator.

I have tried to get into ROTC but the college I'm at has an excellent pilot program and I would have to transfer to go to NROTC.

you won't be a pilot without a 4 year degree, period. The age cut off for Aviation is 27, so if you are even remotely close to that, your chances are running out. Additionally, competition for Aviation and NFO is fierce. your pilots degree actually will not help, as you are studying to become a commercial pilot which is NOTHING like flying military aircraft. Many apply. few are chosen and even fewer get all the way through.

If you otherwise pass the very stringent Physical requirements, transfer to a school with a NROTC department and study engineering or another hard Science. that will go further to reach your goal than your current plan.

Is it possible to take NROTC at the other school and take your other classes at the school you are currently enrolled or transfer to the school NROTC and take the pilot classes at your current school? A friend of mine did this, he took AFROTC at a nearby college (our school only offered AROTC).

He graduated from our school and was commissioned into the Air Force. Last I heard, he was flying B-52s.

there are a number of reward of turning right into a military Officer. You get a a ways better pay grade each and each month and you get respected and dealt with way extra advantageous than enlisted workers do. you will many times be suggested as on upon a frontrunner on your fee. im sorry i don't be attentive to something...
