They tend to think everything is in the Bible..... the Bible is just the basic stuff for us to start out on the right-eous foot, it's part of God's foundation...... not everything is in the Bible. If it was, there would be perhaps books after books and still all God's unlimited knowledge and all the other things in heaven and knowledge of the other side wouldn't fit in these Bibles.

Yes, I assure you that most Christians can think for themselves. As the Bible is the foundation for our faith, then yes, we answer questions based on the Bible. As for the "I don't know part", not sure about that one. Being from a non-Christian background, to now being a Christian, when talking to non-Christian friends, if I do not know, I will tell them so, but I will also make sure I do get an answer for them.

Well, let me ask you something.

Can anything of what you are saying be found in the Bible?

For those Believers who ARE truley God's children by the Blood of Christ, there IS no other book to believe in.

As for saying, "I Don't Know", that is a hasty generalization!

I have freely admited that there were questions that I didn't know the answers to. The whole issue comes down to total surrender to the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives, & following HIS lead-not ours.

When I HAVE been surrendered to the leading of the Holy Spirit-it has been AWESOME how God worked through me.

I was very fortunate to be used of God in leading 2 people to a saving knowledge of Christ-BOTH ON THE SAME DAY!

That was something that I will NEVER forget!

If I say this is right or that is wrong, it is only my word (opinion). What authority do I have.

So Christians say "the Bible says to do this" or "Jesus said not to do that". We are pointing out the commands of the one who has all authority, and His word does matter.

When I have no clue on how to answer a question, I do not answer it.

If I have an opinion but nothing specific that the Bible points out, I will say "I think.." or "I believe..."

Why do lawyers use case law? Can't they think for themselves?

First, we need to look at this from a legal standpoint. The Bible is a Testament, that is a legal document. God is Judge--again, legal. There is the Law, consequences for breaking such, as well as "witnesses" and "advocates". There is also an accuser that is at work to condemn. All of these are legal terms that are wrapped in the spiritual.

If we give you our "opinion", remember that our opinion will not save you any more than my opinion can get you out of an earthly death penalty ruling.

So really, you are kind of insulting those who are trying to give you legal counsel. Give me a lawyer who knows the law over one that just gives me his opinion any day.

I don't know about a lot of things. Ill admit that I am no brain surgeon or rocket scientist. But this I know, Jesus Christ is LORD. And no manner or amount of so called scientific wisdom, philosophical flim flam, or humanistic reasoning can ever take that truth away from a true born again Christian. Come to Christ

well some guy created the bible so he could turn other people into his non-thinking slaves. So instead of think they just prefer to use the good old saying they've been using for a milennia "It is (or isn't depending on the situation) in the Bible"
Way to let some stanger run your life and tell you your beliefs people.(Not a God hater just a Bible <-- book written by man hater)

I say "I don't know" quite a bit and alot of us say "it is (not) in the Bible", because that is out Holy Book. We regard the Bible (in its entirety) as truth and the Word of God, basically it is our guidelines. We use our God-given brain to think, but the ultimate authority is God. However, not everything is mentioned in the Bible, e.g. smoking to us is wrong, not because the Bible said so but because the Bible says to take care of our bodies since it is God's temple and smoking harms our bodies.

If they know their Bible, like they should before answering such questions, then they know whether it's there or not. The Bible really is the best guideline for life, and it's the principles on which the U.S. was founded.

Why do you folow the Constitution, assuming you do.
Why do you obey laws?
Why did you obey your parents when you were young.

We have rules and guidelines to lead us and guide us through life. We Christians believe the Bible is the true Word of God and thus the guideline that teaches how to live.
