Being this is an active breed - a working dog, he needs a ton of exercise. Seriously. Also, do something to keep his mind occupied - obedience, flyball, agility, tracking, rally, whatever your dog enjoys. He'll calm down if he's tired - physically and mentally and be a much healthier dog for it.

Ha, that is too funny- I used to have a springer spaniel, I often wondered if she had ADD! Technically, he's still a puppy, you've got another 6-12 months of puppy hood left, and a working breed - your boy needs a lot of exercise and a job! Take him for a good long walk every morning and every evening, and give him something to challenge him- obedience, agility, frisbee, whatever works for you- if you don't give these guys something to do, they will find something to do and generally you won't like it, or they will be twitching bundles of energy.

lol well no medications this dog breeds immune system is very sensitive. L:ike the first guy said exercise is the key.
I would look for dog parks in your area if you have time, i found dog parks in my area from communites on dogster.com.
walk him around first then let him socialize and maybe play ball/frisbee in the park. It kind of needs hard work to do. I'd even try a soccer ball with him.

You can't put him on ADD medicine. Just play with him and take him for walks, that will wear him out. He will calm down after he ages a bit. He's still young and hyper.

No.
The key to getting your dog to calm down is to:
a) get him neutered
b) get him as much exercise as possible.
Do you have a dog park nearby where you can take him? Can you take him jogging or something? My dog was the biggest pain in the *** until I started bringing him to the dog park every morning. Now it's just our routine and I love it.

springers are high energy dogs.. maybe he or she needs a good walk once or twice a day? or if you have a safe place you can take her to run with you, that would be nice.
i have a lab, and she and i used to go for an hour walk most mornings... she loved it.

he'll probably grow out of it. Even at a year, they are still puppy-ish. Give him more exercise or take him for basic obedience training.

It would be a better idea to work on training your dog and provide good exercise.

Is he neutered? Either way it is a good idea to neuter your pets, but some of them will calm down when they are neutered.
