There is serious persecution in other countries where people are imprissoned or tortured for their faith. And sometimes this happens in America. But American persecution against Christianity is different. More in the lines of family cutting new Christian off. Not letting Christian family member listen to Christian music. Or even on Yahoo, people accuse Christians of being liars, murderers, etc. So false accusation is a big part of American Christian persecution. Not letting Children check out a bible from their school library or acknowledge there is a Creator. Making Christian children take classes indicating that we were once a monkey, etc. & what happens when the child argues that.

tawaen, Christians tortured for their faith in America would be illegal. So, where it would happen would be hidden. So? I know some unbelieving husbands or cult groups would torture or harm their spouse or cult member for their faith in Jesus Christ. You even have people kidnapping women for forced prostitution & slavery in America. We need to crack down on this.
Personally, I think we should have TV programs discussing all types of persecutions. Christians can even persecute their own, because they become self righteous & forget that they are made the righteous of Christ.

Shoot..., Nazis comitted horrendous genocide of innocent people. So? Christians don't even come close to do that. Christians pray for Israel and stand by Her.

Bettierage, I am talking about non violent persecution. Meaning just rejecting the Christian & the truth they are learning about God & rejecting their testimony. Though, I know that as a Christian, I can't listen to Christian music around my husband. And when my husband is drunk, he forces his choice of music (non Christian) on everyone by blarring it And then all night so no one can sleep if they are upstairs. So? This may be non violent, but it is still persecution. And harmful. Not as bad as the man who was imprisoned in Russia where he sat in a cell & could only listen to 'Christianity is stupid' & not move in his chair (yrs ago in Russia). The man who started the Voice of the Martyrs.

Yes, I agree with you totally. I try explaining to people that my family and I are being persecuted here, in America. It's hard, however, to make them believe it. They just never experienced it and their minds are swimming in "democracy," "freedom," and "pride." Yet they don't know that pride leads to one's downfall. And yes, there should be TV programs addressing ALL Christian persecution.

Do you have any links to stories about children not being allowed to check out bibles from the school library ?
Is it because perhaps the library has a ban on checking out ALL reference materials (and perhpas the bible is considered a reference book)
I would like to see a special on how different religious are treated in America, that would include ALL the religions that are discriminated against.
Wiccans and atheists have had it the worst. It took the Wiccans TEN YEARS of fighting the VA to have their faith symbol allowed on the graves of fallen soldiers. Many faith emblems have been available to Christian soldiers, but the VA arbitrarily would NOT allow the Wiccan faith symbol.
Our former president Bush has declared that atheists are not citizens.
Our military has a strong fundamentalist Christian presence that discriminates againsts Jews, Catholics, atheists. An atheist soldier was told to not eat Thanksgiving dinner with the rest of the group when he refused to pray.
Yes, Christians may face some social difficulties with family members as you described, but as for institutionlized religious discrimintaion, Chrisitianity is the MOST PRIVIELDGED religious group in American.
(But in some foreign countries they are victims of HORRENDOUS persecution)

You know....persecution will always be there... as a society we've made an attempt to try and reign it in, but people will be people, and instead of mandating that everyone else act accordingly (which is ridiculous anyway, because you'll never find a set of rules that doesn't offend SOMEONE), your best bet is to teach your own child how to live his life according to his beliefs and values and to work within the system, unless of course, that system is so oppressive that change needs to occur.
Like the little Mormon Girls being married off to old farts who already have other wives....that's just a bit too oppressive and needs to change, especially here in the United States.
But the stuff you are whinning about? Nah.

There is a problem with fundamentalist Christians in this country. Christians at times are worse than Nazi's. The worse Christians are the born again Christians who go around telling everyone they need to be saved. The screw up their whole lives than try to go around telling people how great they are now they found Jesus just because they can hold a job and go to Church. Here's a novel idea, try not to eff up spectacularly in the first place and stay up out of other people's business who didn't screw up like they did.
Religion of any kind should be a personal thing. I myself am Catholic but the biggest persecution of religion I've seen lately are against the Muslims.
*You should really look to the past and look at the periods of Inquisition and civil war within the Church. Countless people were killed under the Christian banner. The Crusades were basically a war waged in the name of God so that Europeans could control trader routes of the Silk Road. Innocent women were burned at the stake during the Salem Witch trials just because someone from behind a pulpit called them a witch. Ghandi sayed it best, "I like your Jesus. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Jesus."

Boo hoo. Christians have done far worse in their prosecutions over the centuries and if this is all you have to deal with, you are leading a very sheltered life. 1. Christian music sucks, they are doing you a favor. 2. Some Christians ARE liers, murderer's, etc. If the shoe fits.... 3. Acknowledging a creator and reading a Bible is done churches, which last I checked is perfectly legal. It's not like it's banned. 4. If Christians don't want to learn about science they can be homeschooled and be taught whatever mindless drivel is wanted.

If you want a show like this go put it on one of your Christian channels.

Tamil, persecution and prejudice are not the same thing. In the US, prejudice is the worst that happens to us, and certainly we can deal with that. It strikes me as rather disrespectful of those elsewhere who experience genuine, life-threatening persecution to equate the two.

There is one.
It's called Fox News.
You can do whatever you want, read whatever you want, and listen to whatever you want...
But don't force it upon my child.
I don't know of many people who don't let their kids explore religion...even hard core atheists. Most are intelligent enough to realize that they need to come to that decision themselves, and forcing them to learn something will probably drive them in the opposite direction.
As far as these false accusations...can I get some references? Because I'm pretty sure I missed the pack of wild atheists banging down my neighbors door for being a Christian murderer....

Wait, torture? For being Christian? In America?
Off your rocker, lady. Disagreement is NOT persecution. Nor is loosing privaledges which aren't given to other religions.
If you want your children to grow up ignorant of the world around them, why don't you home school?
And let me garantee you that there is a Bible in every school library in this nation, despite the attrocities it contains.

Huh? Do you have specific references to your claims?
Not letting Christian family members listen to christian music? What?? That isn't persecution?
Not letting a child check a bible out of a library? where does that happen?
There is no Creator, And no offense but Christians deserve all persecution they get, Anyone over 20 with an imaginary friend deserves to be made fun of.
