In my own (probably childish) opinion, I think it is a good thing for atheists to carry money that says "In God We Trust" on it.
At least, this way, they carry a bit of God with them...
Pray for them...remember that God is not willing that ANYONE should perish.
If you love God, you won't want to lose even one of them, either...

When this country can provide an alternative currency without those words, I will definitely use it. Until then, there's no other choice if one wants to use currency. It's not hypocritical at all when one doesn't have alternatives. However, I use currency and coins rarely; instead, I use my check card which doesn't have the saying on it.
Oh, by the way, you got the saying wrong: it's the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil. Surely a Christian should know that (1 Timothy, 6:7-10).

What's more hypocritical is forcing ones religious views on all Americans by placing the words on the currency during the 1950s and then using the same currency to support wars of greed and aggression for the sake of securing the global oil supply for a few rich American demagogues.

Atheists aren't the only ones who have a problem with the words "In God We Trust" on our currency. Our country isn't divided into Christians and Atheists; we have people from a number of different faiths who feel religion has no place in a matter of government which affects all people. Furthermore, some Christians feel their religion shouldn't be cheapened to something referred to in passing on the dollar bills they put into soda machines and other people place in exotic dancers' clothing.
It isn't hypocritical for me, a Pagan, to use money which I believe isn't designed properly. I have to care for my family, which is a more important priority to me spiritually and theoretically than my money's design. I do have an obligation to do what I can to change that design, and I do work towards it. Someday, hopefully, citizens in this country will respect our own diversity enough to be considerate of how all of us feel in national matters. When I worked outside the home, I accepted shifts on Christmas, Easter and other holidays so my Christian coworkers could spend the time with their families. Not once did they offer to do the same for me. Respect must be mutual, on a national level.

LOL..."hipacriticle." Worst spelling ever.
Maybe you people should focus more on being hypocrites than trying to spell "hypocritical." You know - go with your strengths.
That aside, this is about the dumbest argument I've ever heard. Hey, you know what? The internet was made with science! Yes, with evil, wicked, Genesis-denying, God-killing SCIENCE! So aren't you a "hipacrit" for being on here asking this question? Shouldn't you be off in a cave somewhere with your face wedged in a manuscript Bible (because, you know, the printing press is the tool of the devil as well)?

The question became additionally reported as "unsolicited mail" MY answer: It became a ingredient for an In-regulation .. questioning for some years.. to stay a believer in God or no longer. nevertheless a "warm BUTTON"/project even years later. i come across it very exciting that so any Atheists may well be so upset the Gays might see Atheism as an alluring AND LOGICAL option .. seeing as they only prefer to be known.. and not be ostracized ! something they have IN complication-loose. oh.. your rap track? i myself enjoyed it. no longer undesirable. good success with it.

You did. its "hypocritical". lol
With this same theme in mind.....would you boycott a business if you found out the owner is an atheist?
Do you go to McDonalds? What if you found out the people running that particular store were atheists? Would you boycott that store and go to another?
Or on a more rediculous note.....cows aren't religious, so are you going to boycott all cow flesh?

It took 500 years for the Roman denarius to lose 99.97% of it's value and the Roman Empire to collapse.
It's only taken 100 years for the U.S. dollar to lose 95% of it's value. Has "God" saved us from economic collapse? No, it was the communist Chinese, the Japanese and the Muslim nations of the Middle East who buy our debts who have saved us.
Perhaps "God" is working through them? How long can we trust them to keep bailing us out?

Sorry, boycotting is more of a self-indulgent conservative Christian kind of thing that I don't participate in, and even if I was, it would take more than 4 words scribbled on a scrap of paper to make me that uptight.

Actually, when it says "in god we trust", how do you know it is your particular god? for all you know, it is talking about the Flying Spaghetti Monster. God is a pretty loose term which can mean many things, not just your Christian fairy tale of what you think god is.
