What is 2 points when compared to the surpassing glory of expressing your (self-appointed) expert position on a subject that nobody really has any proof for either way? And yes, I totally include myself in that statement! : )
The only points that count to me are for "best answer", thumbs up, or if someone stars my question.

No. The points are worthless. I think I was at 6 the last time I got really shot out of the air. I had to go look to see what level this account was before I answered.

I would assume most people are out for the points in order to move up levels. half of the time they don't even answer the question to begin with. I have seen some really ugly replies to honestly asked questions. I say, if you can't answer the question and do it politely, don't bother. It's not like you get paid for your reply and in the end you will only get reported for abuse.

Not with my questions in particular, but I have seen it with others. What a waste of an answer! Yah, 2 points, big deal. I don't keep track or care about those silly points. There's nothing really to gain or lose!

I used to say that on level 2, when someone would ask a "question" that was doomed to destruction. But now anything beyond level 5, and the points mean nothing. None of the privileges change above there.

People who are only in it for the points have never been suspended and their answers suck anyway.
