If so, must you dress in formal clothes with a female in a ball gown and the man in a suit? What type of food is served during this meal?

We spent 10 days on the Disney Cruise Ship "Magic" this past summer. They had 2 "formal" nights where recommended dining clothes is a coat, and even Mickey is in a Tux. This is for all 3 rotating dining areas as well as Palo, the formal dining room. Formal dress at the buffet is not required.

However, "formal" is just requested, not mandatory at the 3 restaurants. I'd say 80% of the men are in coats and 70% of the woment are in some sort of formal gown or business suit.

Again, it is optional. Several individuals on our table did not dress up (one fellow left his coat in a taxi on the way to the ship).

Main objective is to have fun...and Disney understands that better than anyone.

No they do not. They have an Adults Only restaurant on the top deck that you must dress for to get into. But the other 3 dining areas do not have a formal night.

We have cruised with our children since they've been infants and yes, they do have babysitting services but normally not during dinner hours. The last night the do offer babysitting services, but the rest of the meal times they ask that the parents pick the children up. This is on Carnival though, so every cruise line may be different. As for the lady that said sailing with your children isn't a good idea, you've clearly never sailed with children. The cruise ships offer a great childrens program and our children have always enjoyed cruising. My husband and I love taking our kids' on vacation with us.

No they don't. If you want to dine in the formal dinning rooms you much book your reservation early. No kids are allowed in the formal areas

they have an adults only restaurant. This is your chance to get dressed up. Otherwise it is dress casual which means women in dress or pants and a nice top/ men in jacket and tie.
