People are not buying what the mainstream media and the man made global warming alarmists are trying to sell them. You don't need to be a scientist to conclude that the warming that is taking place is minimal and it is not caused by humans, therefore there is nothing we can do to stop it.
Despite increasing evidence that man-made CO2 is not a significant greenhouse gas and contributor to climate change, politicians and others who wish to control our lives must maintain that it is.
Our buying into global warming hysteria will allow politicians to do just about anything, upon which they can muster a majority vote, in the name of fighting climate change as a means to raise taxes.
The bottom line is, serious efforts to reduce CO2 will lead to lower living standards through higher costs of living. And it will be all for naught because there is little or no relationship between man-made CO2 emissions and climate change.
There's an excellent booklet available from the National Center for Policy Analysis (ncpa.org) titled "A Global Warming Primer." Link provided at the bottom.
Some of its highlights are:
"Over long periods of time, there is no close relationship between CO2 levels and temperature."
"Humans contribute approximately 3.4 percent of annual CO2 levels" compared to 96.6 percent by nature.
What about public school teachers frightening little children with tales of cute polar bears dying because of global warming? The primer says, "Polar bear numbers increased dramatically from around 5,000 in 1950 to as many as 25,000 today, higher than any time in the 20th century." The primer gives detailed sources for all of its findings, and it supplies us with information we can use to stop politicians and their environmental extremists from doing a rope-a-dope on us.
If man made global warming alarmists really believed in man made global warming they would not be wasting so much time in Yahoo Answers answering their own questions and trying to prove to others that they are right about this issue. They would be using their time and energies more wisely trying to do something about it. But because they are alarmists and propagandists, they alarm the public and propagate the man made global warming ideology.

You are being mislead by the Internets. Public opinion is currently on the side of the theory proponents. In fact, according to a recent Gallup poll, over 86% of Americans (I'd guess a much higher number for the rest of the developed world) believe that Global warming is happening and human caused. This isn't accurately represented on the Internet, however, since here the smallest minorities are usually the most vocal.
Also, I assure you that if you aren't a climate scientist, you have absolutely no clue what the "hockey stick controversy" (a matter which was settled decades ago, by the way) is actually about. The debate is (was, I should say) so technical, in fact, that I posit that any non-scientist like you or me who has taken a position on it has done so ideologically, rather than scientifically. Believe the graph is broken if you want, but know that you haven't the foggiest idea why.
Your last claim, about temperatures driving CO2, is too ridiculous to respond to. You haven't got a single scintilla of evidence to support that position.

Sorry.
The "hockey stick" was a little too smoothed out, but it's basically real (as the National Academy of Sciences said). Ten peer reviewed studies with less smoothing (note the Medieval Warm Period, which was cooler than today) and the Little Ice Age).

And CO2 lagged temperature in previous warmings, because they were natural. This time it's going up simultaneously because it's the main cause. More details here:

Even prominent skeptics (Richard Lindzen, Bijon Lomberg, George Bush) no longer deny that global warming is mostly caused by us.
You do still have Senator Inhofe. But he's one of a declining few.
"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."
Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

Yes, it's refreshing how the summer is lasting well in to the fall these days. And how there's much less snow than in decades past. I'm glad so many fail to remember this or haven't been around long enough to realize this. We just all party on!!!!!!!!! Yea, baby, it's all good!!!!!!!!!!! And I can't wait till they start running the gondolas in downtown London, New York, etc...(add your coastal city here), except New Orleans - it already happened there. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if the worlds oceans don't do just the opposite and just evaporate into space and this planet becomes just like Mars. Then we'll be able to say we've seen everything - even though we'll all be dead - oops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hmmmm - so refreshing!!!!!!!!!

Hysteria? Well then why is it the super countries are fighting over the land under the melting glaciers right now? Is that why they are stockpiling seeds for disaster? Did you see how the glaciers are melting at alarming rates and did you ever notice that the 300 million tons of AA batteries are dumped each year into U.S soil and wonder why peoples water sources are depleting? No I guess not!!

I don't think there's any debate that the Earth is warming, clearly it is. The debate is over the source of warming, and yes, you're right that the more sensible argument is that warming is caused by the Sun and not man.
After seeing how much some "scientist: are paid by political groups with there own specific agenda I understand why some scientist made the claim that warming was man made. however it is clear that this claim didn't hold up under the scrutiny of objective science, and profit motive was the cause of the claim that warming was man made.

Isn't it refreshing that scientific debate is being held by people with no scientific training? Armchair scientists, that's what I'll call you all. What are your other scientific opinions, armchair scientists? Or is it just global warming that you feel qualified to weigh in on without any sort of training, education or credentials?
