It's the microwave oven.

Back in the early days, it was common to stick your hand or head in front of the waveguide to see if it warmed up so you would know if the transmitter was working. If you had a candy bar in your pocket, it would melt.

I noticed the same thing happening but I wasn't working for Amana Labs and never even suspected it would have a HUGE potential.
