Man received the law from God through Moses.

Gen.3:20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Moses brought the law. There were no incest laws until God gave them to Moses and these can be found in Leviticus.

Well, Biblically, the first people were created in chapter 1. . .

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

And then, in chapter 2, the next chapter, Adam (Mud-Man, in Hebrew) was created.

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

So, when it came time for Adam's sons to find wives, there were plenty of people around, because they were created in chapter 1.

It's really rather simple, it's all right there in the Bible.

Godspeed.

I am no longer a Christian, but Adam and Eve were not stated in the bible as being brother and sister. Now I must play the "Devil's advocate" (how ironic) and point out that Christians say we are all "God's" children, so in that aspect we are all committing incest! LOL.

An excellent question - and one I thought excellent when I asked it to my divinity teacher 28 years ago and promptly got put on detention.

I think the only passable answer is that Adam & Eve are clearly works of fiction (unless we are following the dead end of cretinism, oops sorry, creationism).

So many thing sin the bible are banned - like having bank accounts where interest is charged or given, wearing clothes made out of two typres of thred (straight hell for all the polycotton werers then).

People just pick and choose which hangups they approve of - and then try to find a passage in the bible to support it.

I can't quote a source, but what I have heard is that there were other people on earth already.

Adam and Eve were just special - until they got kicked out of eden.

Of course, this was coming from people who believe the stories in the bible, so chances are they are just deluded.

ok Adam and Eve were not related she was created as his mate not his relative ,she was created from his rib to be his other half . The fact to go forth and multiply was after they eaten from the tree that God had forbidden them to eat from . Never once did the bible mention Adam and Eve being related .

God's ways are not our ways. We don't know for sure how the earth became populated w/ adam & eve. We just know that whatever they did worked because look at all the people now.

The Bible states that Adam and Eve were the FIRST man and woman created, not the ONLY.

easy answer, God is a load of poo!
He never was real.

The blokes of the past made a story up and forgot to fill in the details when they where drunk, screwing their aunts.

If god forbids this sort of thing, why didn't he made more people to start off with, its just retarded.

And for the women of the story, what the F, U, C, K!
it's a load of Poo.

It's like believing that Cinderella was real, and Pinocchio really turned into a really boy. yeah and monkeys will fly out of my bottom.

No, incest is not okay. Incest is the sexual relations between family members either by birth or marriage. God has forbidden this in the Bible.

Lev. 20:11-12, "If there is a man who lies with his father’s wife, he has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death, their bloodguiltiness is upon them. 12 ‘If there is a man who lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed incest, their bloodguiltiness is upon them."
Lev. 20:19-21, "You shall also not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister or of your father’s sister, for such a one has made naked his blood relative; they shall bear their guilt. 20 ‘If there is a man who lies with his uncle’s wife he has uncovered his uncle’s nakedness; they shall bear their sin. They shall die childless. 21 ‘If there is a man who takes his brother’s wife, it is abhorrent; he has uncovered his brother’s nakedness. They shall be childless."
But some may point out that Adam and Eve had children and since there were no other people around, their children would have had to commit incest in order to produce more children. At the time of creation, the genetic line was pure. It wasn't until later, at the time of Moses, that incest was then forbidden as the genetic pool became less and less able to stand interbreeding. "‘No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the LORD," (Lev. 18:6).
