I'm considering moving to Joliet, IL soon because we have a contract pending on our house and we need to decide on a place soon. Found a nice place in Joliet, however it is a somewhat crime-ridden town and has a bad reputation in the Chicagoland area. In my dream I see snakes not poisonous but rather garden snakes crawling around the house, and in the garage area I come across a box of dead snakes. What does this mean? I have read on hyperdictionary.com that snakes are indictative of self-renewal and positive changes while also being indicative of fear and apprehension?

I think that the snakes are indicative of "sneaky, slimy, " hidden agendas.... you know the expression "Why that snake"! I think that your apprehensions are seeping into your dreams and telling you that this perhaps not the right move. The dead snakes , I believe symbolize that you are rationalizing that you can "conquer" this with love, kindness, ignoring the situation, mkaing the best of a situation...etc., etc., etc..... but your sub-concious is telling you differently. i think that your instincts are right. If you are thinking of having a family then I strongly advise to go where the school districts are good and where the children aren't snakes. Please re-think your decision. It is not imperative that you move right away. There are plenty of oppurtunities in your future... look elsewhere, rent for awhile, see what you really like. You must feel really positive and not have this many apprehensions oin the beginning. Do not rationalize, you will know when something is right. It is like trying to enter a relationship just for the sake to say that you have a partner. You may be married but to what? Buying a house is like a marriage, but to a neighborhood, neighbors, a school system..... and a community. Think wisely and pay heed to your dreams.

Snakes are in some ways quite difficult but in other ways rather easy symbols. They are difficult because they can refer to lots of things such as an awkward sexual encounter, a person you do not get along with, a person who is deceitful, and a fear that some bad thing may happen very quickly. But all these things can be reduced to some simple questions - what is the biggest problem in your life right now? What do you fear in the day to come? What difficult relationship is causing you problems? What problems are you wrestling with?

QUESTIONS to help you make associations(pick the one that makes most sense to you)
- Did you particularly dislike some bad atmosphere the day before the dream?
- What do you fear will strike at any moment?
- What bad relationships have been troubling you yesterday?
- Has someone been behaving in a nasty or deceptive way?
- Do you feel that someone is trying to draw you into a dispute?
- What creative projects have you been wrestling with?
- Do you feel that the snake could be a phallic symbol linking to sexual activity at the time of the dream?

Even though there are accepted meanings of certain symbols in dreams, the meanings of dreams are actually quite individual. For instance, if you loved snakes this symbol of snakes would be no problem. If you are deathly afraid of snakes, then maybe you are deathly afraid to move. I think the place to start is to ask yourself, what is the most overwhelming feeling you had upon awakening from the dream? Was it dread? Was it puzzlement? Was it fear? That feeling will help you interpret the dream. Have you ever dreamed of snakes before? What was the meaning of them then? You are actually making a very difficult decision, and the difficulty could be the reason for the dream. If you focus on the advantages and disadvantages of this move you may find clarity...both awake and asleep. Good luck!

Because the snakes aren't poisonous, I think you're feeling nervous about the change, but also acknowledging that more than likely, nothing bad will happen.

Snakes are symbolic of deceit and deception. Green represents life and prosperity. So the green snakes represent deceptions which are associated with your livelihood and deceptions. Dead snakes represent lies or deceptions which no longer have any power to deceive you.
