If you already have that high of a degree, why not go Officer? Enlisted are considered the same. whether you have a PH.D or a GED. If you are enlisted, you are enlisted.

No! Enlisted is enlisted whether you have a college degree or not.

If you have completed Law School you should talk to any recruiter about obtaining a direct commission to the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps as there is always an acute shortage of lawyers in the military services. The same is true of the medical services or any other professional creditation program. Yes, if you're a Certified Public Accountant you could possibly receive a direct commission to 2nd Lieutenant, Finance Corps...................

Have you considered ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps)? If there in a battalion on your school/university or at a school near by, I would look into it. The Air Force does not between its enlisted force; you would just come in with a higher rank; E-2 or 3 versus E-1. Check out the website www.af.mil and look at ROTC. There is even a specific section on the legal profession.

Generally, the Navy will give you E-2 if you have an associates degree, or E-3 for a bachelor's...I've often wondered why people (especially if they have a bachelor's) settle for coming in as enlisted? Not that I think Officer's are better, but they make a lot more. I've known numerous Sailors who have Bachelor's degrees and came in as enlisted. I think it comes down to what the recruiters need. If they are hurting for enlisted accessions, I imagine they will try to recruit people into the enlisted ranks, even if they are otherwise qualified to come in as an officer.

in only one way.. with a degree, you can enter as an E3 as opposed to an E1. of course there are other ways to enter at a higher paygrade that do not require college credits as well.

Otherwise, as a recruit, you will be treated the same as every other 18 year old in your division and every other 19 year old in your A school/AIT.

Guess what..plenty of enlisted people with advanced degrees.. up to and including Docorates. you are judged on your job performance, not how much college edumacation you have

Enlisted is enlisted. Don't try to separate yourself by looking down on the HS graduates just because you have a college degree - they will make you regret it...

you might get a meritorious promotion possibly up to E-4 (probably E-3) but that's it. you wouldn't be any more distinguished than the other enlisted men at your rank.

I served in the US Navy aboard the USS Enterprise. With such an advanced schooling, you would probably go work for the JAG Corps. I wouldn't think they would throw somebody with that kind of education to swab decks or clean bilges.

Good luck. I loved my years in the Navy!
