There was no flood, no ark. The flood story is an illustration of saving faith in Christ, the ark being Christ. How many times do you people have to be told?

Please read Genesis 8:7-12
If you're going to worry about anything, worry about the raven not the dove ;)
But, the Bible is clear that the raven just flew/soared until the waters had receeded enough that he could land somewhere.
Doves, on the other hand, are not great fliers. They don't soar like ravens do.
Since ravens soar, when it didn't return Noah still could not be sure that it meant that it had found a place to live.
But when he sent the dove it found nowheer to land and it HAD to land, so it returned to the ark.
7 days passed and he sent the dove out again. This time, she returned with an olive branch in her mouth. This meant the waters were receeding but she was still unable to find a place where the waters had receeded enough that she could stay there.
7 more days passed and he let the dove go again.
This time, when she didn't return, Noah knew that the waters had gone down far enough that she had found a place to live.
It was not long after that when the the ark landed and Noah, his family, and the rest of the animals exited the ark.
While we know there were 7 pairs of doves (as many here have already pointed out), even if there had only been one pair of doves, the female was not alone long enough to be a problem. The male still would have found her and they would have continued their line.

Good question and bringing in some fantastic replies. Although the land was flooded there was nothing to stop the odd dove left behind from flying around and then pouncing on the first poor female to pass by but being a good girl she first went home and packed her bags before departing for pastures new.

You're missing the point. The male dove mounted the female while on the ark, and the female laid eggs, which hatched after the flood. The baby doves were raised by a pair of cardinals....this is why cardinals are such a high ranking position in the church.

So how do you know the female dove wasn't already in the pudding club, and the reason she never went back was because she'd made a nest, droppped her eggs and was quietly sitting on them?
Does the Bible say the animals weren't allowed any nookie until they found dry land or something?

Doves are in the sky, they could not be killed like the rest of human and animal civilisation where back then. The doves made it.
If you ever see a dove flying when there is a rainbow it is your luckiest day, make a good real wish and it will come true

It is possible that the original pair of doves had chicks during their time on the ark. So, by the end of the voyage, there were more than two doves onboard.

You shouldn't take these stories too seriously. Besides which, if you read the story properly, Noah took 14 pairs each of clean animals 7 pairs each of unclean animals, more than enough doves to go round I think.

look, READ before u COMMENT. Noah was commanded to take more than 2 of the clean animals. in other words, he had a bunch of doves brought to the ark and later let out of the ship.

He was sending out baby doves who could barely fly.
The male baby dove drowned and was eaten by the polar bears swimming back to the arctic.
