I found this right angle finder on ebay... I found it fits the type of camera i have... I have no idea what it actually does...

Can you explain to me what this odes?

Basically it attaches to the viewfinder eye piece and allows you to frame and focus looking down rather than looking through the eye piece.

It's a very handy piece of equipment to have if you use a tripod a lot. If you don't use a tripod much, you probably won't have much use for it.

If you use a right angle finder you might be looking down into your camera instead of straight through.
You can also look up through it, as when you might want to take a picture from overhead in a crowd or someplace.

It will become one of your favorite things when using a tripod or shooting at ground level. I've owned mine for over 30 years and its used almost everytime I venture out taking photos.
