Precisely because of their age--They are young, arrogant and stupid. Remember the saying: "Youth is wasted on the young"... Young people think they are special and that they know better than older, more experienced adults. TYPICAL MISTAKE.

As we grow older and mature, we realize that things our parents did to set us in the right path were OK, even though at the time we felt we were unfairly treated. (Time will show you that being a responsible parent is very hard; and just as kids are frustrated with their parents, so all parents occasionally feel like they deserved better kids.)

As for attitude, some belligerence is normal....But it is up to each parent to set down rules and guidelines.

They are the adults and they should teach their kids what is right and what is wrong; and I mean by both advice and through actions.
(A parent that drinks or swears does not have the moral grounds for telling his/her kids not to swear or drink - The parent has to follow through and preach with example.)

The Bible has wonderful, wise advice on Proverbs.

Oh...they swear do they? Sounds like an additional 2 days added to the sentence. Every time they use foul language or rebel...add more time. make them work around the house. No work? Limit the intake of food. Dinner would consist of green salad..no dressing...bread...no butter...meat with no salt, pepper or any other spices and plain boiled white rice or a plain baked potato. Oh..water too. Nothing else.
Still won't conform? Remove all items from the room like the computer, TV, radio, Ipod, XBox and leave nothing except books. Heh, heh...not just ANY book. Moby Dick, The Pickwick Papers, a collection of Robert Frost poems.

You just need inventive ways to make kids suffer...and learn at the same time. Learn to read, learn to appreciate literature and most importatntly...learn to repect you and the rules of the household. Acts of rebellion while under the control of another authority need to be dealt with swiftly and fair. They're being fed. may be only 1400 calories a day but they're eating....and they can't possibily be bored because they have all these swell books to read.
Maybe then they'll see the light and conform to the standards they're expected to abide by.

Because they are half child half adult and are still trying to find a balance. Then they grow up and realise that they are exactly like their parents when they have their own kids. Its the circle of life... but I wasnt like that lol. I think the media plays a huge roll in how kids act these days... but oh well..

i don't swear. in case you do not make it a habit in the 1st place - you do not could desire to subject approximately it slipping out once you get pissed off. i can in basic terms think of how problematical it is as quickly as you have made a habit of swearing to ward off doing it around your infants. a lot of persons have enable words slip around my daughter. I assume an apology to my daughter with acknowledgment that the be conscious should not be suggested and savor it while human beings exhibit regret to me too after letting a be conscious slip. even though it form of feels that maximum persons have this concepts-set of "each and every physique swears" and "she is going to take heed to it in any case." My toddler's uncle theory it grow to be humorous to instruct her some naught words while she grow to be a million. i grow to be livid! He somewhat had her call me a "mom f.... bit.." and a few different issues. he's clearly this sort of individual who does not care if youngsters have mouths like truckers.

my kids wouldnt do that. i've never had to 'send them to their room' <<< they dont even know what that means.

seems you have some parenting skills to revise!!!

it is the 'parents' fault 99 percent of the time for that kind of behavior from your own children. somewhere along the way you've lost a bond and respect with your kids.

its never too late to get involved. good luck

beacause they think its unfair that you are taking away their privledges.it would be the equivalent to your boss saying you cant take break time for a week because youve been slacking. you would be frustrated and probably have a little tantrum (though being mature adults it may be on the inside). i find myself doing the same thing sometimes when my mom gets angry at me and punishes me, but i learned to accept it because i would only get further punishment for tantrums

Because they are 15 and in high school. They're called teenagers, hating your parents and blaming them for everything at that age is pretty typical behavior.

For the same reason that, as adults, we get mad and swear at our bosses when we get reprimanded for doing what we usually know we shouldn't. We're all human.

because the parents are worthless and need to stand up to their CHILDREN, thats a ridiculous question, if my son ever swore at me, which he would never do, there would be absolute hell to pay, and bet your a$$ he would never even consider doing it again.
