Because the type of the disobedient children are us. We would have to put ourselves to death for being disrespectful to God.

You see (*sigh*) , God told about things through types and shadows in the Old Testament. Most people in the world fail to see that. It astounds me but since I see, I suppose that I cannot be too harsh to people, they have growing to do and so do I.

The 'types and shadows' tell of real things that are told of as metaphors in the Bible, the human race being looked at as children.

The disrespectful children ARE going to be destroyed, put to death; as in the Second death when there will be judgment.

Those who go God's way will NOT be counted as disrespectful. Those who do not go God's way will be counted as disrespectful.

Things like this take skill in discerning, and must be taught on for the full effect of the message to be communicated. I hope I shed some light no this for you.

Galations 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Galations 3:20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
Galations 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
Galations 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Galations 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
Galations 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Galations 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
Galations 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Galations 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Galations 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

A child is innocent, and the bible is in many cases meant to be taken philosphicaly. Meaning their disrespectful behavior needs to be put to death. The bible reveres children as being innnocent, and that all will ascend to heaven in the rapture as they can have no sin.
Parents who allow the behavior should be the ones put to death!

My goodness, you must not have any children. In the new Testament after Jesus came to earth, he said a New commandment I give you and that is to LOVE one another as I have loved you. Mercy and Grace came in the picture because of Jesus dying for the human race. He is our mediator to God and its because of him that alot of us are not consumed for doing awful things. We're under a new covenant with God because of Jesus Christ.

Yes, kids can be disrespectful (so do adults) if some of us would grow up and become better role models, maybe alot of them would too. That's my observation and I have 2 teens.

Honestly, I've tried slaying my young, but some long haired freaky person keeps resurrecting them.

Man, do they have an ax to grind now. I hope they don't take it out on me when I become old and senile.

clearly you haven't read the new testament where this guy Jesus died for our sins and stated that he was the new covenent and though the old testament is still pertenent we are not under the old law anymore so children that are disrespectful are no longer under the law of death.

If you read further, adulterers and homosexuals would also be put to death! Thanks to Jesus' first coming, we aren't bound to the "Law" of the Old Testament. We'd lose 75% of the world's population if it were put in practice! By grace we have been saved.

Luckily we have evolved morally to reject the theory that killing naughty kids is decent behavior.

I wonder why God used to think it was a good thing?
