I have tiles in my house. The whole 1st story is tile. Their porcelain. My chihuahua stays downstairs all the time and I was wondering does the tile have any affect on her? The tiles get really cold.

I do have rugs 2. One in the family room and one in the living room. But there is a coffee table in the middle and like no room. I will try some.

I cannot stand carpet either. And yeah ecspecially with dogs. When you step on carpet it leaves things on your feet which I just cant stand.

My tiles are porcelain and they are not slippery if you slip your foot on it it will get stuck and make a squeeky sound. But since fall and winter is coming I am going to put some area rugs and some rug liners in the halls and areas downstairs which would also give the house itself a bit warmth.
Thanks.

Tiles can be cold in winter although some are better than others, can be slippery and can be hard on the joints both for humans and dogs. On the other hand, they are nice and cool in the summer. Some double coated dogs hide in the tiled bathrooms during hot seasons.

You may want to keep her nails clipped so they don't strike the floor and cause foot or joint problems and (if she is long haired) keep the hair on her pads and feet trimmed so she does not slip on the floors.

Some dogs develop a fear of slick floors if they have fallen or slipped on them. I like them as well but I like the new carpet tiles as they don't slide around like runners or carpets and they are replaceable.

Might be a little slippery and cold, just make sure she has some comfy things to lie on. I have only tile in the areas that my dogs are allowed to hang out in, generally they sleep on the throw rugs, but I know when they first come in and are hot, they will sprawl on the tile under an air conditioning vent. Personally, I can't stand carpet, especially not with dogs.

lol.. all i can think of is the "chikety chickety" their little nails make on the tile.. so cute

you might consider some area rugs or some runners in the halls just so they don't get cold feet.. but really it shouldn't be too much of a problem if you keep the house warm. Consider... if your feet don't get bothered by the tile then chances are neither does theirs

They are cold and do not provide very firm footing. Dogs generally do not favor tile. Try some big area rugs to make the dog more comfortable,
