yes, if Virginia has a state income they will tax you on wages earned in the state. Maryland will also tax you on the wages you earned while being a resident of Maryland, but will give you a credit for taxes paid to Virginia on the income you earned while a Maryland resident. It won't be a $ for $ credit, but will be the lessor of the tax liability in Virginia or the tax in Maryland on the same income.

Yup, but you'll get a credit on your MD return for the VA taxes paid, up to whatever the MD liability would have been. Essentially you'll pay state income tax at the higher level of the 2 states for the money earned in VA.

Assuming that you receive a w-2 from your employer you will not be subject to VA taxes. Both of these states have agreements in place to not tax wage earnes who live in the other state. You would have your employer withhold MD taxes from your pay.
