Hi Nykate.....I have the same problem with dry eyes....I've tried quite a few different moisturizing drops....even allergy eye drops. Artificial Tears seems to work well....but so does the CVS Pharmacy brand, Sterile Eye Drops. (dont know if you have CVS where you live, but most pharmacies would have its own brand) If all else fails, you really might want to indulge in an appt. at an allergists. Many people I know have this problem since they have come down with allergies, which can happen at any time of your life. For goodness sakes.....dont try wearing contact lenses.!...been there, done that! Yikes!!!! With dry eyes it feels like your contacts are covered with sand! lol But truly Nykate, it seems that if all of a sudden you have dry eyes, my first suspicion would be you have developed an allergy. Hope I've helped....good luck!

Don't use eye drops. I often suffer from this problem myself, especially when I wake up in the morning. I tried putting in eye drops to prevent my eyelids from sticking together and often catching on the eyes themselves. What happened instead was that I started making the problem worse. I got blurry vision and extreme sensitivity to light. I decided to stop using eye drops and instead decided to keep a wet cloth next to the bed. The problem cleared up. I still do have dry eyes but at least the stickiness is gone. Perhaps something you could try are the sprays that you spray outside your eyes. I haven't tried that yet so I don't know how well they work.

Use artificial tears but also you may want to look into punctal plugs. Permanent ones which are silicone. They are tiny plugs that plug your lower tear duct so that moisture stays in your eye longer instead of draining through that plug. You can usually get them placed at an ophthalmologist. Depending on where you live they can be expensive.

You need to go see your eye doc and get this checked out and diagnosed. You eye doc will recommend what to do after he checks your eyes.
